MoI denies entry of any Israeli ‘Tel Aviv’s code entered by mistake’
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22, (Agencies): The Interior Ministry said Sunday no holders of Israeli passports entered the state in 2005; neither before nor after that time.
In a press release, the ministry said that each country has a specific code in the airport’s system and that an employee entered Israel’s code by mistake instead of the code of a foreign country.
The codes of Israel and that country were similar, it noted.
When the mistake was noticed, the employee was interrogated and Israel’s code was deleted immediately, it said.
Meanwhile, MPs MPs Waleed Al-Tabtabaei and Naji Al-Abdulhadi have asked the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to conduct a thorough investigation on the alleged entry of an Israeli journalist to Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.
Wondering why the ministry has remained silent over reports on the entry of the Israeli journalist to Kuwait, Al-Tabtabaei argued the Israeli has been interviewed by the press in which he confirmed his entry to the country. He urged the ministry to quickly conduct a thorough investigation to verify the Israeli’s claim that he met a famous Kuwaiti personality and that he revealed his Israeli identity to this person.
Al-Tabtabaei expressed his disappointment over the ministry’s lackadaisical attitude towards the issue as this gives an impression that Kuwait has diplomatic ties with Israel, which occupied Palestine. He asserted Kuwait must be firm in addressing this security issue.
On the other hand, Al-Abdulhadi called on Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah to make major changes in the leading positions in his ministry. “Kuwait International Airport can no longer identify the persons banned from entering the country. We need an effective security system to prevent the entry of these people,” he opined.
Al-Abdulhadi advised those who cannot carry out their duties efficiently to leave because national security is not subject to courtesy and preferential treatment. He pointed out the entire region is currently passing through a critical period; hence, the need to intensify efforts to secure the nation and prevent the entry of unwanted foreigners.
