Illegal expats, criminals held in Hawalli, Salmiya
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: Securitymen arrested 16 expatriates for violating the Residency Law and for their involvement in various crimes in Hawalli and Salmiya Sunday.
During a surprise security campaign launched in both areas, the securitymen rounded up 16 expatriates with expired residence permits and others wanted by law for their involvement in different crimes.
They were referred to the concerned security department for the prosecution.
Scrapyard theft: An Afghan man, in his 30s, who works in Amghara scrapyard, has filed a complaint with police against unidentified persons who broke into the shop and carted away second hand car spare parts worth KD 240.
The complainant told police he was surprised when he went to the shop Sunday morning as the door was broken. When he checked the contents, he realized the thieves took some used car spare parts worth KD240.
Criminal Evidence Department personnel later lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.
Bootleggers caught: leeb Al-Shuyoukh securitymen arrested three Asians for trading in alcohol with four bottles of local liquor in their possession on Sunday.
While patrolling the area, police noticed the erratic movement of a vehicle, so they signaled for the driver to pull over. When they approached the vehicle, they saw the confused state of the driver and his companions — all Asians.
This has prompted them to check the car thoroughly, resulting in the discovery of three bottles of local alcohol.
A case was registered and the Asians were referred to the authorities for prosecution.
Man hurt in fight: A Kuwaiti, in his 30s, suffered from injuries in different parts of his body and a fracture in his right hand after engaging in a fistfight with two compatriots in front of a famous restaurant in Sharq.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location immediately after receiving information on the incident. They referred the injured to Amiri Hospital, while the other two Kuwaitis were taken to a nearby police station for investigation and other necessary legal action.
Ex-husband blamed: woman filed a complaint with police against her ex-husband who allegedly set fire to her vehicle, which was parked in front of her house in Nahda recently.
According to the complainant, the suspect threatened to burn her vehicle after having a heated argument with her. She provided police with a detailed description of her husband and police have started investigations to verify the complaint.
