‘Give me money or I kill you’ - Teen threatens father with knife Kuwaiti held in drug trafficking
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: Jahra securitymen have arrested a young man, who allegedly tried to kill his father in their house in Al-Naseem, due to financial disputes.
Securitymen rushed to the scene after the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior received a call Wednesday about a young man trying to murder his own father after they had a heated argument over some financial issues. When they arrived at the house, they saw the man holding a knife, about to stab his father. It took them 30 minutes to convince him not to carry out his plan.
The young man was referred to Taima Police Station for questioning. He told police that he had a heated argument with his father over some financial issues, prompting him to take a knife and try to kill his father. A case of attempted murder was registered against him.
Kuwaiti held in drug trafficking : Anti-narcotics officers have arrested a Kuwaiti for trading in drugs with a kilo of heroin in his possession.
After receiving information on an unemployed Kuwaiti trafficking in drugs, Director General of the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) Major General Ahmad Al-Khalifa instructed head of the Local Drug Fighting Administration Colonel Ahmad Al-Shargawi and his assistant, Lieutenant Colonel Abdulmohsen Al-Abbasi, to verify the information.
Al-Shargawi formed a team of officers who put the suspect under surveillance. The team arranged an entrapment immediately after gathering enough evidence. They sent an undercover agent to purchase five grams of heroin from the suspect who agreed to deliver the drugs at an undisclosed area in Sabahiya. The citizen was arrested upon completion of the bogus transaction.
The Kuwaiti tried to resist arrest but the securitymen overpowered him and referred him to the relevant security department for the necessary legal action. During the interrogation, the citizen admitted the crime and told police that he is selling heroin on behalf of an inmate, who is currently serving time for trading in drugs. He also guided police to his flat in Bneid Al-Gar where they found a kilo of heroin and some trading tools.
Patients escape death: Forty-five patients at Badriya Al-Ahmad Health Center narrowly escaped death when fire broke out in one of the rooms at the center, while smoke emanating from the ventilations and air conditioning units rapidly spread to the wards.
Security operatives from the Civil Defense Department and rescue officers rushed to the location after the Operations Room received information on the fire. The rescuers acted promptly and transferred some patients to Hussein Maki Jumah Hospital, without causing any adverse effect on their condition.
Firefighters extinguished the fire before it spread to other parts of the hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed the cause of fire was the faulty battery of a power generator at the center.
On the other hand, Media Coordinator at the Medical Emergency Department Abdulaziz Buhameed revealed smoke came from the storage room for spare batteries near the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He added the department sent 13 ambulances and 26 paramedics to the location after receiving information on the incident. A large number of concerned officials were also at hand to supervise the fire-control and rescue operations.
Two held with liquor: The Farwaniya police have arrested two men — a Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan — for possessing 574 polyethylene bags filled with local booze, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
This incident was the first of its kind for the Farwaniya police to deal with on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to reports Director of Farwaniya Security Directorate Brigadier Gholoum Habib acting on information that the suspects were manufacturing booze in their apartment in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, got an arrest warrant, raided the apartment with the help of police and arrested the bootleggers.
