Prices of sheep skyrocket Australia sheep cheapest
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The sheep market could not escape the skyrocketing prices phenomenon and the price of a lamb has already exceeded KD 75 at the start of Ramadan, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Sellers and consumers said the prices of various types of sheep will increase more as the demand increases. Sellers admitted that the price hike is unjustified because there is enough quantity to cover the market needs. Demand for certain types such as Arabic, local Naeimi and the Syrian sheep make prices subject to the supply and demand law. “Also, weak support to sheep breeders especially concerning prices of feed led them to raise the price and a number of traders were obliged to transfer their sheep outside the country,” said sources.
A number of visitors to the market affirmed that prices rose significantly compared to last year and that the price of local sheep exceeded 85 dinars in some cases while the cost of Naeimi sheep ranged between KD 70 and 75. This is at the start of Ramadan which means prices are likely to soar during the coming days. Prices of the hybrid sheep ranged between KD 40-48 while Australian sheep was the cheapest with price in the range of KD 27-29. Prices of goats also rose sharply ranging from KD 50 to 60, depending on size.
