Kuwaiti Woman cheat held fleeing Kuwait; Filipinos steal jewelry
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: The Kuwait International Airport police have taken into custody an unidentified Kuwaiti woman for allegedly embezzling KD 40,000 from a company where she was an employee, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports she was attempting to leave the country and she was whisked away for interrogation just 10 minutes before the plane was to take off. The daily did not say where she was headed to.
The fraud was discovered by the accountant of the company and soon informed his boss who in turn filed a complaint with the Salhiya Police Station.
After the complaint was filed police summoned the woman for interrogation. However, she refused to go and instead tried in vain to leave the country.
Filipinos steal jewelry: Police have taken into custody a Filipino housemaid and a male compatriot for allegedly stealing jewelry worth KD 30,000 from the home of the maid’s sponsor, reports Al-Shahed daily.
When the sponsor filed a complaint with the police and pointed a finger of accusation at the maid, police whisked her away for interrogation and she is said to have admitted to committing the crime. She added she facilitated the entry of her friend to steal the jewelry.
Cable thieves held: Security operatives from Jahra arrested two Iranian expatriates in possession of stolen copper cables, during their patrol in the area.
The suspects had reportedly loaded the cables inside their truck when the officers spotted them, and they ordered for checking. The suspects were taken into custody, immediately after the officers discovered the stolen items. A case has since been registered against them for stealing government property.
Suicide attempted: A 25-year-old woman tried to commit suicide by taking a large number of pills inside her family’s house in Jahra recently.
Security sources revealed the woman’s family found her lying unconscious in her bedroom with some of the pills scattered near her. They immediately took her to the nearest hospital where she is now recuperating.
A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to determine the actual circumstances that prompted the woman to try to end her own life.
