Kuwait’s ambassador to Pakistan Nawwaf Al-Enzi — asserted in a statement here following his meeting with KRCS Chairman Barjas Hamoud Al-Barjas — that Kuwait’s standing by Pakistan and what it exerts of relief efforts and offers of assistance to those afflicted by recent floods, “is not something new as the wise Kuwaiti leadership is accustomed to such humanitarian acts,” noting the instructions immediately made on offering urgent aid to Pakistan.
He also hailed the humanitarian contributions made by KRCS to help several countries that were hit by disasters and crises including Pakistan that is currently bearing the brunt of devastating floods that caused the killing of some 1500 people and displacing more than 15 millions.
Nawwaf added that Kuwaiti support to Pakistan is continued through airlifts and aid convoys and through constructing hospitals and schools in order to ease the suffering felt by the Pakistani people.
On his part, Barjas said in a statement that a military aircraft loaded with relief items including tents and blankets would set off tomorrow from Abdullah Al-Mubarak air base with a number of KRCS volunteers on its board.
Barjas added that KRCS’s volunteers would oversee the distribution of relief assistance in cooperation with the embassy of the State of Kuwait in Pakistan and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
Barjas noted that the KRCS volunteers would determine the basic needs required as well as necessary relief items in order to provide them as quickly as possible to the afflicted in Pakistan.
He also asserted that these assistance express the stance adopted by the State of Kuwait for supporting those afflicted in Pakistan, particularly under the humanitarian deteriorating conditions currently seen by the devastating flash floods.
