New manpower authority to be set up in Feb next year Separate budget to be allocated KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: The public authority for manpower, which is included in the new private sector labor law (Number 6/2010), will be established in February 2011, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.
Sources clarified a separate budget will be allocated for the authority, which will operate under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. Sources said the authority will be in charge of the recruitment of expatriate workers in accordance with the actual manpower needs of the employers.
Under the leadership of Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Jamal Al-Dosri, sources confirmed the authority will amend around 30 ministerial decisions to be in line with the new labor law in the private sector. Sources added the authority is expected to issue six new directives in favor of the expatriate workers right after its establishment.
Sources affirmed the ministry is bent on taking the necessary procedures to guarantee the proper implementation of the new labor law. Sources said the ministry has launched a campaign to inspect the companies to ensure strict compliance with the law, particularly the stipulations on leave days, salaries and work hours.
They also advised the workers to lodge a complaint at the labor departments in case their employers fail to abide by the law.
