Spread knowledge, true Islamic teachings: Al-Hammad Mosques urged to ban collection of donations during Ramadan
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8, (KUNA): The Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry on Sunday called on employees and Imams in mosques all over the country to ban the collection of donations.
The Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Mosques Affairs Waleed Al-Shuaib said in a press statement that the call came as an implementation to the decision of the Cabinet, which was issued on March 7, 2009, banning the collection of donations in mosques, cooperative societies, and markets around Kuwait.
He called on all employees in mosques to comply with the decision.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, Justice Minister, and Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Minister Justice Rashid Al-Hammad said Sunday that the Mosques should be beacons for spreading knowledge and true Islamic teachings.
Al-Hammad’s statement came during the opening of the Suleiman Al-Omair Mosque in Yarmouk area.
The Mosque since the time of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) had always been the center of every Muslim’s life, stated the Minister, stressing that such role for Mosques required such institutions to spread the rightful teachings of Islam which always had been the religion of peace.
