Asian held for selling 10,647 top brand fake toothpastes Security guards seize 15 grams of heroin, cellphones from inmates
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: Securitymen arrested an Asian expatriate for selling 10,647 counterfeit toothpastes of a known brand, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Commerce inspectors of the Capital branch received a tip-off that the Asian was providing counterfeit toothpastes to groceries and some supermarkets. They also came to know that the suspect was not providing them to cooperative societies because the latter ask for the importing agency’s certificate and other official papers.
Securitymen then sent an undercover agent to purchase some toothpastes and arrested the suspect during the transaction.
The Asian admitted his crime and was referred to authorities for further action.
15-gm heroin, cellphones seized: Dur-ing a surprise inspection of the prison wards at the Central Prison, the security guards are said to have seized 15 grams of heroin, an equal number of cell phones and detained seven inmates for interrogation to find out how the banned items found their way into the facility, reports Al-Anba daily.
The inspection was carried out under the supervision of the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Penitentiary Affairs Major General Majed Al-Majed. The inmates have been referred to the General Department for Criminal Evidences and their blood and urine samples have been sent to the Forensics Medicine Department to find out if they are consuming drugs.
Goods worth KD 1,800 stolen: Police are looking for unidentified persons for breaking into a store and stealing electronic items worth KD 1,800, reports Alam Alyawm daily. According to security sources the theft was discovered by the employees when they reported for work in the morning. They were shocked to find the broken front door and items displayed in the shop missing.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.
