Birth certificates forged to help GCC citizens obtain nationality Overnight rich duo held for looting homes of people out of country
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: Securitymen are looking for a Citizen Services Center employee who allegedly manipulated records and granted forged birth certificates to GCC citizens to help them gain citizenship besides forging 17 domestic worker residences, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdullah Al-Rashid reportedly received information from a secret agent that an employee, a Kuwaiti, was accepting bribes to manipulate records in the computer and was registering maids under the sponsorship of juvenile citizens, many of whom were below 16 years of age.
Securitymen then tried to verify the information and it was revealed that the suspect was previously sentenced in a forgery case. Investigations are underway.
Overnight rich thieves held: The Jahra police have arrested a two-man gang — a citizen of an unidentified GCC state and a bedoun - for breaking into homes of Kuwaitis and stealing valuables including jewelry in the suburb of Saad Al-Abdullah City, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to reports the suspects were caught on suspicion after several people filed theft complaints at the area police station. A special task force was formed to nab the thieves and the men were arrested and submitted for interrogation after it was discovered they became rich overnight and spend lavishly and bought sports cars.
During interrogation they confessed to breaking into seven houses of persons who had traveled abroad for vacations.
They also told interrogators they sold their loot in an unidentified GCC state. Police interrogations are continuing.
189 held in 7 months: According to statistics issued by the Sentences Enforcement Department, securitymen arrested 189 people wanted by law for various crimes, traffic violations and misdemeanors in the first seven months of the current year, reports Alam-Alyawm daily.
Statistics indicate that a total of 23 people wanted in misdemeanor cases were arrested in June, 10 people wanted in criminal cases were arrested in February and 5 people wanted for traffic violations were arrested in March. These are the highest arrest rates in each category.
60-year-old cheat: Police have arrested a 60-year-old Kuwaiti for, whose identity has not been disclosed, for fraud and swindling citizens and expatriates, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the suspect cheated Kuwaitis by promising to help them solve financial problems, particularly overdue electricity bills payment, for what he called ‘nominal’ fee.
He is also said to have cheated several expatriates who were facing visa problems.
During interrogation he admitted to cheating several people.
Meanwhile, in other news, the daily said he was wanted by law in eight cases for renting apartments in Mahboula and Al-Jabriya in the name of Egyptians and using them for illegal purposes.
He has been referred to the concerned authorities.
Traffic officer beaten: An unidentified police officer working for the General Traffic Department has been admitted to the Al-Sabah Hospital after he was allegedly assaulted and beaten by his colleague, a civil employee of the department and his brother, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports this happened when the brother of the colleague approached the victim to complete some transactions and the latter refused.
The brothers then were involved in an argument with the officer and ended up beating the victim.
Policewomen ‘disliked’: An Open Day for women at the Entertainment City ended in a fight and when policewomen intervened to solve the problem, some women allegedly objected to their presence, reports Al-Rai daily.
However, although the presence of policewomen may not be liked by some women, the daily added, those who particularly objected their presence are the cross-dressers because there was hardly any presence of cross-dressers on the occasion.
Moreover, the presence of policewomen helped to get rid of the water pipe smoking areas at the facility during the event.
Sorceress nabbed: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti woman for practicing black magic, reports Al-Shahed daily.
She was taken into custody from her residence in Salwa. The daily quoting security sources said police acing on information put the woman under surveillance sent a secret agent and caught the woman in the act.
The woman and the instruments she used in the trade have been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department.
Dog let loose on girl: A Kuwaiti girl, whose identity and age has not been disclosed has been arrested by the South Surra police for letting loose her pet Doberman on her friend, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports the victim and the suspect were involved in an argument and the latter went home and returned with the dog.
The dog is said to have bitten the victim in the sensitive part of the body. She has been admitted to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital and the dog to the Forensic Medicine Hospital.
