The government has no intention of collecting taxes from citizens for services it provides for free, ministerial sources told Al-Jarida daily.
Sources said the government has never given priority to this issue and it will keep supporting citizens materially and by all other means to enable them lead a comfortable life.
“The government cannot collect taxes, particularly now when prices of almost everything have gone up,” they stated.
Referring to a proposal about collecting toll tax for using expressways, new roads and the Jaber Bridge, sources said the proposal was shelved long ago as the government was not convinced about it. Moreover, the National Assembly will never approve such decisions, they added.
