Palestinian decamps after minting cash from sale of 50 forged visas Kuwaiti gang of 4 held for ‘hitting’ electronics stores

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: Following a tip-off the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs, Director General of Immigration Security, Major General Abdullah Al-Rashid received about a Kuwaiti citizen and his Palestinian counterpart trading in visas, a team of detectives was formed to follow up the case.
Upon investigations, detectives uncovered the first suspect- the Palestinian, obtained commercial license for the company in the name of an elderly Kuwaiti man and got the power of attorney from the company’s owner to manage the company. However, the Palestinian left the country after he managed to forge 50 work permits, each for KD 900.
In the meantime, the concerned authorities called owner of the company, who confirmed giving the power of attorney to the Palestinian. However, the man noted the work permits had been forged without his knowledge, even though he signed all the official documents. The citizen has since been referred to the concerned authority for further investigation, while efforts are in progress to arrest the Palestinian.
Sources confirmed that nine expatriates holding the company’s visa have been arrested by officers from the Immigration Security Department, who confessed to paying between KD 800 and KD 900 for each visa.

Gang of youths selling, doing drugs: Hawalli securitymen arrested three young Kuwaitis and two GCC nationals for consuming and selling drugs.
Sources say securitymen earlier received a tip-off that four Kuwaitis, including a young woman, and a GCC national were trafficking in drugs. After verifying the facts, a team, armed with an arrest warrant, raided a flat in Hawalli area and arrested three Kuwaiti men and a GCC expatriate, all of whom happened to be under the influence of drugs. During investigation, they admitted that they procured drugs for consumption and trading from another GCC expatriate. Anti-drugs men then raided the house of the expatriate and recovered two kilos of hashish from his possession.
All the men and the woman were referred to authorities for further action.

Gang of thieves held: The Farwaniya police are said to have arrested a four-man gang of Kuwaitis who specialized in breaking into shops selling electronics and stole cell phones, laptop computers and electronic devices worth KD 50,000, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the arrest came following complaints filed by victims at police stations in the Farwaniya governorate.
The same reports said the suspects were caught red-handed while breaking into a shop at an unidentified location.
During investigation they are said to have admitted to committing the crime. Police interrogations are continuing.

Bangladeshi arrested: Police have arrested an unidentified Bangladeshi man for tampering with telephone lines and offering overseas calls at a cheap rate, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information raided an apartment in Al-Qasr and took the man into custody. He has been referred to the concerned authorities.

Caretaker robbed: Police are looking for five unidentified people who allegedly broke into the room of the caretaker of the Mohammed Ebad Al-Adwani mosque in Firdous, threatened to kill the man and stole his money and cell phone, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports the suspects were dressed in dishdasha and armed with knives.
Acting on information police patrols rushed to the area and found the caretaker in pathetic condition.
The man has been rushed to a hospital and police have circulated the description of the men among all police patrol cars.
