Disputes delay restoration of telephone network Maintenance companies facing losses
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 2: Negligence with the leadership in Ministry of Communications, and disagreements between the State Audit Bureau and Central Tenders Committee has delayed the signing of contracts for restoration of the telephone network in various governorates since 2009, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting a source.
According to the source, no maintenance work has been carried out at the telephone system in Ahmadi, Jahra, Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates over the past year. This has resulted in citizens and many institutions complaining about incessant breakdown of the telephone network in those areas.
In the face of approval by the Central Tenders Committee to carry out maintenance work in four governorates, the State Audit Bureau insists on adding certain terms and conditions to the contracts. The Deputy Premier and Minister of Communications, Dr Mohammed Al-Busairi should have hastened in presenting the proposal to the Council of Ministers, in view of the delay causing several maintenance problems and losses to the affected companies and individuals.
