Gamblers, porn CD-sellers held in Salhiya, Mirqab crackdown

KUWAIT CITY, July 31: Police arrested six Asian men for gambling and 10 others for selling pornographic films during a crackdown in Salhiya and Murghab recently.
In an attempt to wipe out gambling dens and liquor factories, the security officers inspected buildings near the Liberation Tower and Ministries Complex where a large number of Asian workers usually gather.  This resulted in the arrest of six Asian men who were gambling and 10 others who were selling pornographic films.  Two of those arrested were also found to have violated the Residency Law and three are wanted by law for their involvement in various crimes.
All the arrested Asians were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.  Sources said the security officers will carry out similar campaigns throughout the country before the start of Ramadan to track down criminals.

Youths create nuisance: Officers attached to a security patrol team in Hawalli apprehended three drunken Kuwaiti youths, while they engaged in indecent acts off the beach in Salmiya.
An eyewitness had reportedly placed a distress call to police when the suspects started disturbing peace around the place, and the officers moved in immediately to maintain order. However, the officers ended up arresting the youths after discovering they were drunk.

Hoax-caller sought: Securitymen are looking for a hoax caller who called the Operations Room at 5 am, saying a house caught fire in Taima area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Securitymen and medical emergency department officials had rushed to the location, but found no signs of fire anywhere. They then called the informer who had switched off his cell phone by then.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti man called the Operations Room, saying his Jordanian employee disappeared mysteriously. He added that the employee used to work for him in Shuwaikh Industrial Area. A case was later registered at Sharq Police Station.

Cabbie beaten, robbed: Three persons robbed an Iranian taxi driver of KD 140 at the premises of Jabriya Cooperative Stores. The thieves are said to have attacked the victim before robbing him, and they fled the scene immediately after the operation. Police have started investigations to arrest the suspects.

Woman assaulted: A Kuwaiti woman filed a case at the Rumaithiya Police Station against her estranged Iranian husband who physically assaulted her, in an attempt to kidnap their child. The case has been registered.
