‘Groups’ raid illegal call centres, bachelors accommodations Unofficial security groups allegedly receive support from politicians
KUWAIT CITY, July 30: In a strange incident, some citizens tried to raid specific hubs used for illegal international call operations and attacked houses accommodating bachelors, in their attempt to enforce the law, reported Al Anba daily.
According to a security source, leadership at the Ministry of Interior will next week thrash out the facts about those citizens forming unofficial security teams for that purpose. The same source added that some members of the teams use sticks to break into homes, in an operation they term “Imposing security and arresting violators”, and they call the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry to report their action.
Meanwhile, the strange phenomenon begun about two months ago, after the citizens formed the unofficial groups and securitymen cooperated with them. At that time, the teams reported to the ministry alone, but later they put the law into their own hands and started reporting to policemen, the source explained.
Earlier, security operatives had warned leaders of the groups against such actions, which they termed as clear violation of the law that could expose the members of the group to danger. However, they are persistent to continue the operations, the source lamented.
He went on to mention some of the groups as the ‘Bachelor Fighting Movement’ and ‘Our Clean Area Movement’, reiterating that some of the groups receive support from politicians, while others regrettably receive indirect support from security leaders.
