Man holds kin hostage, demands cash for drugs Embezzler can’t fool police
KUWAIT CITY, July 28: The Jahra police have arrested an unidentified 20-year-old Kuwaiti youth for holding his brothers captive inside his family home and threatening to shoot at anyone who approached him, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the youth who was armed with a gun is believed to be a drug addict.
He was demanding money to buy drugs and when he did not get what he wanted he held his brothers for ransom.
Acting on information police rushed to the area and coaxed the youth to release the brothers saying the money he had demanded was placed in a bag outside the door.
Then police set a trap for him and took him into custody. He has been referred to the concerned authorities.
Woman forger probed: Police have referred for investigation an unidentified Arab woman for investigation in connection with forgery and charged her with manipulating documents, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to security sources the suspect was hired for part-time work by the Illegal Residents Department of the Ministry of Interior.
The sources said the woman exploited her position to issue ‘To whom it may concern’ health and education certificates to many people including the Iraqis and Syrians.
It has been reported in the Nationality column she wrote ‘bedoun’.
Embezzler nabbed: Securitymen arrested a Bedoun, who was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for embezzling KD 25,000, and referred him to authorities, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Sources say Director General of Criminal Investigations Department Sheikh Ali Al-Yousef received information about a Bedoun family whose one member held Iranian nationality. He then charged Director of Hawalli branch of the department Colonel Abdurrahman Al-Suhail with the task of collecting data about the family following which it was revealed that the suspect changed his name and acquired Iranian nationality to escape imprisonment.
The suspect was initially put on surveillance and later arrested. He is said to have confessed his crime.
Chaos at hospital: Police were called to control the chaos at an unidentified hospital, reports Annahar daily.
According to the daily this happened when an unidentified Kuwaiti woman began distributing money (alms) to cleaning company workers and laborers working at the hospital in gratitude for the recovery of a relative who was suffering from an unidentified sickness. The daily did not give more details.
