2 tons of precious metals ‘stamped’

KUWAIT CITY, July 27, (KUNA): The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stamped 2.1 tons of precious metals at KD 3,891 in June.
According to statistics issued recently by the ministry’s department concerned with gold and precious metals, silver topped the list with 371 kilograms worth of KD 376, whereas the number of pieces examined and evaluated reached 105.
Silver and gold plates were at 368 kilograms at KD 524,800, it said, adding that 2,795 samples were examined whereas 15 parcels of jewelry that do not match qualifications were exported and 22 locally-made ones were destroyed.
Department Director Mislim Al-Anzi told KUNA earlier that the ministry was keen on developing its cadres’ performance and provide them with hi-tech used in the domain worldwide.
He added that the ministry also was keen on participating at local and international events concerned with gold and precious metals such as the international gold and jewelry fair.
