Education minister said to set new salary system for Kuwaiti teachers Increase seen in basic salaries, grades
KUWAIT CITY, July 26: Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mudhi Al-Humoud has set a new salary system for Kuwaiti teachers and submitted it to the Head of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Abdulaziz Al-Zubin for approval, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to the new system, Kuwaiti teachers will be eligible for optional promotions, will be guaranteed an increase in the number of grades required for promotions and an increase in the basic salaries, and their allowances will be doubled according to their positions and job titles.
The Minister is demanding the approval of four main articles which are: widening the path of optional promotions; separating the teachers’ promotion system from the rest of the occupation systems; including all different forms of promotions under one system; and giving the ministry the chance to set conditions that serve the educational process.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Students and Trainees Association at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) Waleed Al-Kandari has stressed the need to build the Jaber Academy for Applied Sciences, considering the number of students applying for admission to the Kuwait University and PAAET, reports Al-Dar daily.
He noted the steady increase in the number of students seeking admission has compelled these two institutions to raise the admission grade, even as the students pursuing higher studies abroad have increased remarkably.
In the meantime, he confirmed that 40 MPs are in support of the bill to build the Jaber Academy for Applied Sciences, and its approval will determine government’s seriousness to implement the development plan, which includes the education sector.
