‘Mosques can erect tents for Iftar’
KUWAIT CITY, July 25: Director General of Kuwait Municipality Engineer Ahmad Al-Sabeeh said the sector has authorized all mosques belonging to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to erect temporary tents for Iftar during Ramadan, reports Al-Rai daily.
Engineer Al-Sabeeh said the mosques will use the tents as extensions for the places of worship which may be inadequate for the large number of worshippers the sector normally witness in the course of Ramadan.
He stated that part of the tents will be reserved for women, saying the period of Ramadan should be handled superbly because the month is holy, while the charitable activities should not go beyond the premises of the mosques.
He reiterated those mosques should seek approval of the Directorate General for Fire Services to ensure security and safety of the tents, indicating the tents should not displace parking lots within the areas, since officials from the Municipality will be monitoring the activities.
