Indian bootlegger held in hot chase by police ‘Cross-dresser’ held with drugs
KUWAIT CITY, July 24: A special security squad apprehended a notorious Indian bootlegger in possession of 18 bottles of local alcohol in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Anba daily.
The officers were on routine patrol in the area when they suspected a man who parked his car at a suspicious location and tried to avoid the police team. He even took to his heels on seeing the patrols, but the officers gave him a hot chase before he disappeared in a building. The officers, however, nabbed him within 15 minutes and took him back to the parked car in which the bottles were hidden. The suspect confessed that he was waiting for his customers who usually approach him at that point everyday. He was referred to authorities for prosecution.
In a separate case, Ahmadi securitymen arrested a Bangladeshi taxi driver in possession of five bottles of local brew. The Bangladeshi was caught at a surprise checkpoint set up by the officers. He confessed that he was merely supplying them to a client on behalf of the person who brews it. Police referred him to authorities.
In yet another development, Ahmadi securitymen arrested an Asian man in possession of 51 bottles of local alcohol, 15 men involved in the illegal international call service business and seven people wanted by law in Mangaf area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
During an intense security campaign launched in the area, securitymen noticed an Asian holding a plastic bag containing alcohol bottles and arrested him. They then raided the call service den and arrested 15 people, including two operators of the business. Seven other people who were wanted for various offences were also arrested during the campaign. Police referred all of them to authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
The operations took place under the directives of acting Security Chief Brigadier Ma’touq Al-Aslawi. He instructed acting Operations and Patrol Director Major Faleh Al-Othaili Al-Dousari to increase patrolling in the area.
Kuwaiti woman attempts suicide: A 37-year-old Kuwaiti woman tried to commit suicide by swallowing a large number of medicines at her home in Hawalli, reports Al-Rai daily.
The woman’s family members were surprised on seeing her in pain and rushed her to Mubarak Hospital where doctors revealed that she consumed an overdoes of medicines. The woman later confessed that she wanted to kill herself.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman’s daughter was in psychological trauma and is currently receiving treatment at Psychological Hospital. The woman was fed up of the entire situation and wanted to end her life.
Police unite kid, family: Jahra securitymen successfully reunited a lost child with his family by using loud speakers installed in police cars, reports Al-Anba daily.
The child was lost in a market in Jahra. Securitymen tried in vain to find his family for more than eight hours. Also, since the child was very small and kept crying, they couldn’t extract any information from him. Finally, they decided to make the child ride with them around the market while officers kept announcing that they found a lost child. The plan worked and within an hour, the child was happily reunited with his family.
‘Cross-dresser’ held with drugs: Officers of the Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) arrested a Kuwaiti youth in possession of 500 grams of heroin. The youth, who is said to be a cross-dresser, was arrested at his home in Mishref when he played into the hands of drug-control officers by selling 50 grams of heroin to one of them for KD 1,000. DGDC had laid the trap on receiving a tip-off that a clinic manager’s secretary was trafficking in drugs.
