Police hunt youths for trying to kidnap GCC girls on visit Jleeb heading for total chaos: citizens
KUWAIT CITY, July 24: Officers from the Hawalli Investigations Department are searching for unidentified youths who broke into a temporary accommodation for tourists to kidnap some GCC female nationals on tour in Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily.
Security forces rushed to the apartment when the Operations Room received a call from one of the girls staying in the apartment with her family, who reported that some youths were trying to break into their apartment.
The girl told police officers that five of her sisters and herself were coming back from the market when she noticed a vehicle was pursuing them, and she thought the occupants were only harassing them. However, four men alighted from the car and followed them to their apartment, as they also got off from the taxi. She noted the men followed them to the apartment, while one of them tried to grab her, but she resisted and slammed the door.
In the meantime, she called the Operations Room, and a rescue team was dispatched to the location immediately. Nevertheless, she declined to press charges against the perpetrators, since they are strangers in the country but provided securitymen with details of the suspects’ car. The case was registered for investigation.
Jleeb in shambles: Many citizens residing at block 19 in Jleeb Al-Shuyukh have warned of deteriorating conditions in the area, which they stressed is gradually approaching disaster, due to negligence by the demolishing team using bulldozers to pull down the entrances and facades of their homes, and leaving them in the mercy of criminals, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The citizens said the situation has created problems for many of them who haven’t abandoned their homes, and noted that Asian expatriates have already occupied some houses, besides thieves who constantly disturb citizens living in the area, and theft of steel. They added the Municipality’s bulldozers, which are only used to demolish the front walls of their homes, have led to cats and dogs taking shelter there.
Gang nabbed: A three-member gang including a Kuwaiti citizen, Bedoun and a GCC national specialized in raiding livestock pens were apprehended by security operatives on patrol in Jahra, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Security sources said the officers spotted the suspects’ car, which was moving in excessive speed late night and ordered the driver to pull over for checking but he refused. As a result, the officers chased the car for one hour, until they were able to arrest the driver, with his two companions.
In the meantime, the officers searched inside the car, where they recovered an electric generator, building materials, cables and many other items. The suspects confessed to stealing the items from a livestock pen in Kabad, so they were referred to the concerned authority.
According to sources, security officers discovered that ten theft cases had been registered against them when they checked their identification.
