Kuwait witnessed a dusty weather Monday, which reduced visibility to a few hundred meters. The meteorological center forecast again dusty weather Tuesday with moderate to fresh north westerly wind.
Shops shut, hepatitis-hit workers barred in swoop Teams inspect salons, gyms, abattoir

KUWAIT CITY, July 19: The Acting Director of Licensing, Investi-gation and Follow-up at the Hawalli Branch of Kuwait Municipality, Abdul-Latif Al-Sharhan, recently disclosed that officials from the department issued citations and shut down several shops, while banning workers suffering from hepatitis from the work, during their inspection of foodstuff shops, beauty salons and women gyms in June, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Sharhan said the Municipality officials inspected 179 shops, among which they issued 217 citations and shut down 4. He added the officials also destroyed 55 kilograms of unhealthy foodstuffs and banned 24 workers from the work after results of the medical tests they underwent revealed they were suffering from hepatitis.
He pointed out that the team did not restrict their inspection to the shops and went ahead to test slaughtered meat at the abattoir in Ahmadi, indicating 5,674 Australian, 299 Arabian and 6,520 hybrids of sheep breeds, in addition to 19 cows were inspected. He stressed that the officials destroyed 22 slaughtered sheep they considered unhealthy for human consumption, and tested 7,210 kilograms of imported meat from Egypt and Ethiopia.
In the meantime, the Ahmadi Municipality Director Fahad Al-Otaibi noted the Illegal Structure Demolition Committee embarked upon massive demolition of illegal structures in East Qurain.
He said the Head of Engineering Inspection and Follow-up Department Nayef Al-Azmi led the team during the operation.
, saying the structures which were demolished include workshops where plastics were manufactured and fixed, besides other abandoned structures.
