230 citations, 30 cars seized Couple, 5 kids stranded in desert rescued after hours
KUWAIT CITY, July 18: Hawalli traffic police issued 230 citations to traffic law violators in Salmiya and Hawalli areas and impounded nearly 30 vehicles during the weekend.
Despite the extreme weather, policemen pursued reckless drivers and other violators, say sources, adding such campaign will continue throughout the summer.
Man beats up wife: A Kuwaiti woman has lodged a complaint at Waha Police Station against her husband who allegedly beat her.
The woman told police she had a heated argument with her husband when she refused to pay the installments for his loan, prompting him to beat her. She provided police with a medical report to substantiate her claim.
A case was registered and police will summon the husband for questioning.
Man caught drunk: Hawally securitymen have arrested a 33-year-old Kuwaiti for consuming alcohol and wanted by law for his involvement in a financial case.
While patrolling the area, the securitymen asked the Kuwaiti to stop for routine inspection and present his civil ID. However, when they approached him, police noticed he was drunk. They then checked his security records, which revealed he was wanted by law for failure to pay a loan amounting to KD4,000. He was referred to the concerned security department for prosecution.
Couple, 5 kids stranded in desert rescued after hours: Securitymen rescued a Kuwaiti family stranded in a desert area for hours after their vehicle broke down on Saturday.
Initially, when the family contacted the Operations Room, security teams went searching for it, but despite three hours of extensive search, they failed to locate the family. Eventually, securitymen took the help of helicopter service and managed to find the family in Matraba area near Salmi.
The family, consisting of a couple and their five children, was in good health and thanked securitymen for their efforts. Sources say the family had gone on a picnic.
Man found dead: An Asian expatriate in his early 40s was found dead in Mina Shuwaikh Saturday night.
Acting on information the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received about a person lying unconscious at the aforementioned location, paramedics and securitymen rushed to the place, where paramedics confirmed he was already dead after examining the body. Criminal Evidences Men referred the corpse to the Forensics to determine the cause of death. However, the officers believe the death could be natural.
2 fight near mall: Two young Kuwaitis engaged in a public brawl at the parking lot of a commercial complex in Jahra recently after a heated argument over a parking space.
Securitymen rushed to the location immediately after receiving information on the fight. When they arrived at the scene, the securitymen took the youths to a nearby police station for interrogation. A case was registered against them.
Pakistani injured: A Pakistani expatriate was injured in the groins when he engaged in a fight with a compatriot at the Amghara scrapyard.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene, following a report the Operations Room received about the episode, and paramedics referred the injured man to the Jahra hospital for treatment. The case has since been registered.
