35 held for prostitution; 2 killed, 8 hurt in accidents Bedouns travelling on Kuwaiti friends passports held
KUWAIT CITY, July 17: Securitymen have arrested three Bedoun youths, whose ages range from 16 to 18 years, for forging the passports of their Kuwaiti friends.
The securitymen discovered the forgery when the teenagers tried to leave the country through Salmi border using the passports of their friends. Sources revealed the border officials noticed the pictures on the passports do not match the facial features of the suspects, so they inspected the documents thoroughly until they found out the forgery.
A case was registered at Taima Police Station and the teenagers were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
2 killed, 8 hurt in accidents: A number of road accidents were reported Saturday, causing the death of a Kuwaiti and an Arab woman, as well as injuries to several other motorists.
A 20-year-old Kuwaiti died in a two-vehicle collision on the Seventh Ring Road, going towards Dhuhur. The accident also caused multiple injuries to an Egyptian who was taken to Farwaniya Hospital, while the remains of the Kuwaiti were referred to Forensics.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location right after the Operations Room received information on the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed the Kuwaiti’s car rammed into the rear of the vehicle of the Egyptian. Eyewitnesses revealed the front window of the Kuwaiti’s car was broken due to the impact of the collision. Some shards of glass caused deep head injuries to the Kuwaiti, leading to his instantaneous death.
In an unrelated incident, an Arab woman died on the spot when the vehicle she was riding, along with two Omani women, a three-year-old Omani child and an Egyptian woman, crashed into a lamppost on the Fourth Ring Road, opposite Jabriya. Her remains were referred to Forensics, while her companions, who sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies, were admitted to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital. Sources said the rescue officers had to cut the roof of the car to get the victims out as they were trapped inside the totally damaged vehicle.
A 42-year-old Kuwaiti sustained multiple injuries when his car rammed into a traffic light on Hawally Bridge along Morocco Highway. He was taken to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital.
A Jordanian and Pakistani suffered from various degrees of injuries when their vehicles collided with each other on King Fahad Road. They are now confined at Adan Hospital.
Another two-vehicle collision was reported on the Fifth Ring Road, causing injuries to a 43-year-old Egyptian who was rushed to Amiri Hospital.
Workers demand backpay : A number of employees working for a company distributing newspapers and magazines staged a strike Saturday morning in front of the company headquarters in Free Trade Zone in Shuwaikh demanding their unpaid salaries. The employees have not been paid since May.
Stating that their residencies have been cancelled, the protestors called on Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr Mohammad Al-Afasi to intervene and solve their problems. The employees fear they will be imprisoned or deported due to the residency issue.
Pimps, prostitutes held: A team of policemen from the Jahra Security Directorate on Friday raided five apartments suspected of being used as prostitution dens in the governorate, resulting in the arrest of 25 women and 10 pimps.
Armed with a search and arrest warrant obtained from the Public Prosecution, the team barged into five apartments and arrested 25 women and 10 pimps, who were caught in the act.
The women and pimps were referred to the relevant security department for the necessary legal action.
Precious batteries: Securitymen arrested an Iranian for stealing 60 electric batteries worth KD 600,000 from a project site in north Kuwait Thursday, reports Al-Anba daily.
The officers caught the suspect while he was trying to steal more items from the site. They had earlier received a report that thieves were stealing batteries, which cost KD 10,000 per piece, from the site. While patrolling the area, officers found that a car was trying to avoid them, so they chased it and asked for back up support when it became apparent that the driver was evading arrest. They later caught him in possession of over 20 batteries.
The thief later confessed that he had been stealing batteries for over one month and added that he knew the value of batteries and that security on the site was not tight. The officers referred the suspect to authorities.
