Egyptian stabs Filipina wife 31 times to death Suspect flees

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: In what seemed to be a scene from a Hollywood movie, an Egyptian man reportedly entered a women’s salon in Jabriya Saturday and stabbed his wife — a Filipina employee at the salon — 31 times in front of her astonished colleagues and clients.

According to sources, the suspect fled from the scene immediately after the incident, leaving the victim in a pool of blood. Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location immediately after the Operation Room received information on the incident. However, the victim was already dead before the rescue officers and medical emergency team reached the scene. Her remains were referred to Forensics.
Sources revealed the detectives and personnel from the Criminal Evidence Department took the murder weapon and the suspect’s shoes from the crime scene. Sources confirmed copies of a detailed description of the suspect have been distributed to various security checkpoints in the country to ensure his immediate arrest.

Head of the General Criminal Investigation Department (GCID) Brigadier Ali Al-Yousif and his assistant, in addition to other high-ranking security officials, have started investigations on the incident.  Sources said the authorities are currently interrogating the watchman of the building, along with a number of eyewitnesses, to shed light on the incident. Sources added the motive behind the killing remains unknown and investigations in this regard are in progress.
According to eye-witness accounts, the assailant, who was known to the victim’s co-workers, came to the saloon a little past noontime and asked for his wife and what transpired afterwards happened in a blur, with the assailant attacking the victim with what appeared to be a meat cleaver, and after carrying out his crime, fled in the ensuing confusion.

Co-workers said they saw the victim’s stomach was slit open.
A witness said she saw police later recovering the murder weapon which was found among potted plants in the passageway.
According to friends and acquaintances among workers in adjacent saloons, the victim had just arrived recently from vacation in her hometown in Zamboanga in the Southern Philippine Island of Mindanao where she took her three children.
Another friend of the victim, who asked not to be named, said that the assailant apparently committed the crime in a fit of jealousy and desperation because he did not want his wife to divorce him.
Further accounts by friends of the victim, said they would often see their friend coming to work often black and blue from beatings inflicted by her husband; and just before leaving on holiday, saw one of her hands heavily bandaged, allegedly caused by her husband.
The day before the crime happened, a worker from an adjacent saloon and a friend of the victim, reportedly saw the assailant as she was coming down the stairs, sitting on the staircase holding what she said, was a knife, which she said she could make out even though it was wrapped in a plastic bag.
