SK Engineering & Construction glued to the top Wataniya Telecom, Hankook Tires fail to dislodge leaders

KUWAIT CITY, July 5: SK Engineering and Construction continued their dominance in the 16th Filipino Badminton Association in Ahmadi (FBAA) 3rd “Hankook Tires Cup” at the Fahaheel Sports Center Friday.
With all their players in top form, SK Engineering and Construction were leading the standings with 115 match wins and 326 points .There was no change in the placing of the next two teams from the previous week as Wataniya Telecom were in second place with 101 wins and 299 points while Hankook Tires were third with 91 victories and 278 points. The tournament is being played over different classes with all the points being accumulated to get the standings.

Men’s A
Wataniya Telecom II and Engineering and Construction scored two wins each but Wataniya got 8-4 points when the tandem of Albert Marcelo and Allan Bondoc thumped Joenel Seva and Jeb Elamparo 15-10, 15-9 and Allan with Francis Enriquez overpowered Jeb and Joms Tantiangco 15-7, 15-8.
SK Engineering and Construction won when Joms Tantiangco and Jyotish PG outlasted Francis Enriquez and Sonny Cajipe in a seesaw battle 15-13, 13-15, 15-9 and Joenel Seva and Jyotish PG edged Albert Marcelo and Sonny Cajipe 15-11, 9-15, 15-9.
Wataniya Telecom VI gathered 2 victories as did Western Union Money Transfer but the former collected 7-5 points as Jaypee Parayno and Gerry Aguilar overcame Emil Millanar and Rommel Carlos in 2 sets 15-6, 17-15 and Zahidul and Jaypee tamed Mike Florendo and Emil 17-15, 15-8.
Western Union scored when Sherwin Felizardo and Mike Florendo thrashed Masood and Zahidul 15-0, 15-0 while Sherwin and Rommel outlasted Masood and Gerry 15-11, 10-15, 15-13.
Worley Parsons almost acquired a landslide victory against Hankook Tires 3-1 after Leeforp Alonzo and Jong Rimando pressed on the accelerator in the last 2 sets to edge Joshi Gaurav and Joshua Lagran 9-15, 15-7, 15-9, while Edd Antonio and Tony Osea overcame Dave Laguio and Gerry Labagnoy in 2 extended sets 15-9, 18-16 and Leeforp with Tony brushed aside Joshi and Gerry 15-11, 15-13.
Hankook Tires did not go home empty handed when Joshua Lagran and Dave Laguio blended well of the courts to edge Jong and Edd 15-11, 12-15, 15-6.

Later that day , Hankook Tires scored a 3-1 victory over Wataniya Telecom VI when Joshi and Joshua crushed Masood and Zahidul 15-0, 15-0, while Joshi and Gerry overpowered Masood and Gerry 15-0, 15-0 and Joshua and Dave hammered Zahidul and Jaypee in back to back sets 15-11, 15-11.
Wataniya Telecom VI were saved from being routed when Jaypee and Gerry worked hand in hand to outlast Dave and Gerry 11-15, 15-13, 19-18.
Wataniya Telecom II were still in their best shoes in the afternoon matches when they crushed Worley Parsons 4-0 after Albert and Allan hammered Leeforp and Jong 15-10, 15-13, Francis and Sonny outlasted Edd and Tony 6-15, 15-8, 15-11, Albert and Sonny edged Leeforp and Tony 15-11, 6-15, 15-12 and the tandem of Allan and Francis broke no sweat to beat Jong and Edd 15-10, 15-9.
SK Engineering and Construction completed a 3-1 victory over Western Union after Joenel and Jeb outlasted Sherwin and Mike 15-11, 10-15, 15-10, while Joms and Jyotish overwhelmed Emil and Rommel 15-10, 15-7 and Joenel and Jyotish brushed aside Sherwin and Rommel 15-13, 15-11.
Mike and Emil won for Western Union when they edged Jeb and Joms in 3 extended sets 13-15, 16-14, 16-14.

Men’s B/LA
In Men’s B and Ladies A, Worley Parsons got 2 wins as did their opponents but they collected 7-5 points against Hankook Tires as the tandem of Hans Ita-as and Dianne Elamparo thrashed Cesar Isidro and Arcee Florendo 15-0, 15-0 and the girl power of Janette Rimando and Dianne crushed Rio Ferrer and Arcee Florendo 15-9, 15-8.
Hankook Tires scored when Rio and Ryan Aguilar edged Janette and Aileen Perez 8-15, 15-8, 15-5 and the tandem of Ryan and Cesar overpowered Aileen and Hans 15-10, 15-11.
Western Union scored a 3-1 victory over SK Engineering and Construction when Nikka Mae Roda and Tim Torres outlasted Arjay Lesaca and Mark Zalavarria 15-10, 13-15, 15-10, Anthony Valdez and Tony Elamparo overcame Maricel Romano and Vince Vidal in an extended 2-set play 15-7, 19-17 and Nikka Mae with Tony thumped Arjay and Vince in back to back sets 15-11, 15-11.

SK Engineering won when Mark and Maricel tamed Tim and Anthony 15-11, 15-11.
Wataniya Telecom V achieved a 3-1 win against Wataniya Telecom II after July Espiritu and Robert Gubat edged Arnel Lara and Jojie Corpuz 16-14, 9-15, 15-13, while Roma Valdez and Romeo Bolos outlasted Marlad Aman and Lawrence Viernes 15-8, 12-15, 15-9 and Robert and Roma edged Jojie and Marlad 11-15, 15-9, 15-12.
Wataniya Telecom II scored when Arnel and Lawrence overwhelmed July and Romeo 17-15, 15-10.
Western Union achieved a 3-1 victory over Hankook Tires as Adrian Sinmeon and Roy Francisco hammered Cesar and Arcee 15-10, 15-6, Arnold and Roy overcame Rio and Arcee 15-13, 16-14 and the tandem of Arnie and Adrian outlasted Ryan and Cesar 15-5, 11-15, 15-13.
Hankook Tires did not walk home empty handed when they scored through Rio and Ryan who brushed aside Arnold and Arnie 15-11, 15-12.

Later that afternoon, Wataniya Telecoms showed some real class when they had landslide 4-0 victory over Western Union as Arnel and Jojie thumped Arnold and Arnie 15-13, 15-8, while Marlad and Lawrence edged Adrian and Roy 15-13, 8-15, 17-15, Arnel and Marlad overpowered Arnold and Roy 15-11, 15-7 and the tandem of Jojie and Lawrence thumped Arnie and Adrian 15-12, 15-8.
SK Engineering scored a 3-1 win against Worley Parsons as Arjay and Mark edged Janette and Aileen 15-13, 12-15, 15-7, Maricel and Vince brushed aside Hans and Dianne 15-13, 15-11 and the tandem of Mark and Maricel thumped Aileen and Hans 15-10, 15-9.
Worley Parsons won when Janette and Dianne outlasted Arjay and Vince 13-15, 15-10, 15-5.
Wataniya Telecom and Western Union finished with 2 wins and 6 points each with the former getting their points when Roma and Romeo brushed aside Anthony and Tony 15-12, 15-11 and partners Robert and Roma overcame Tim and Anthony 15-12, 19-17.
Western Union bounced back through Nikka Mae and Tim when they overpowered July and Robert 15-12, 15-10 and Nikka Mae paired with Tony wasted no effort to hammer July and Romeo 15-8, 15-6.

Men’s C
In Men’s C, Western Union generated a 4-0 victory against Hankook Tires after Benedict Garcia and Eric Farthing overwhelmed Majed Abdulaziz and James Blaz 15-11, 15-11, Dominador Gonzales and Keith Lawson outlasted Mathew Ooman and Roger Estinozo 13-15, 15-10, 15-12, Benedict and Keith brushed aside Majed and Roger 15-9, 15-6 and the tandem of Eric and Dominador thumped James and Mathew 15-5, 15-13.
SK Engineering and Construction won 3-1 against Wataniya Telecom II through Glen Pilotas and Raymond Albay who edged Aldrin Turalde and Cathy Lesaca 15-13, 7-15, 15-13, while Glen and Freddie Ocampo outlasted Aldrin and Keisha Stecky 15-8, 7-15, 15-11 and Raymond with Dhanagopal hammered Cathy Lesaca and Dino Mendoza 15-0, 15-0.
Wataniya Telecom II did not go home empty handed when Dino Mendoza and Keisha Stecky blended well on the courts and overpowered Dhanagopal and Freddie 15-5, 15-11.

Later that day, SK Engineering and Construction almost completed a landslide victory against Western Union after Glen and Raymond brushed aside Benedict and Eric 15-7, 15-10, while Dhanagopal and Freddie outlasted Dominador and Keith 15-6, 13-15, 15-10 and the tandem of Glen and Freddie thrashed Benedict and Keith 15-5, 15-6.
Eric Farthing and Dominador Gonzales gained victory for Western Union but they were made to sweat before they edged Raymond and Dhanagopal 10-15, 17-15, 18-16.
Hankook Tires pulled off a landslide 4-0 victory over Worley Parsons as Majed and James outlasted Roman and Melissa 11-15, 15-11, 18-16, while Mathew and Roger thumped Lito and Alen 15-13, 15-12, Majed and Roger edged Roman and Allen 15-10, 8-15, 15-10 and James paired with Mathew tamed Melissa and Lito 15-10, 9-15, 15-10.
Wataniya Telecom II swept aside Worley Parsons 4-0 when Aldrin and Cathy edged Roman and Melissa 9-15, 15-11, 15-13, Dino and Keisha thrashed Lito and Allen 15-6, 15-9, Aldrin and with Keisha crushed Roman and Allen 15-2, 15-8 and partners Cathy and Dino brushed aside Melissa and Lito 15-8, 15-14.

Mixed C
In Men’s C, Western Union III tied on 2 wins and 6 points against Worley Parsons after Anthony Petrache and Girlie Cuya overcame Kristine Novino and Joel Pereira 15-12, 16-14 and Anthony and Antonette Mangahas tamed Kristine and Claudette Farthing 15-12, 15-7.
Worley Parsons won when Bill Smith and Claudette thumped Jovi Vidal and Antonette 15-12, 15-9 and the tandem of Joel and Bill overpowered Girlie and Jovi 15-4, 15-4.
Hankook Tires accomplished a landslide 4-0 victory over SK Engineering and Construction when Robin Gubat and Luisa Diaz thrashed Chris Castilla and Marc Joy Gaza 15-8, 15-6, Marivic Clemens and Shirley Iglesias tamed Beth Millado and Cindy Fernandez 15-8, 15-10, Robin and Shirley thumped Chris and Cindy 15-12, 15-6 and the pair of Luisa and Marivic worked hard to edge Marc Joy and Beth 8-15, 15-7, 18-16.

Later that afternoon, Hankook Tires gained a 3-1 win against Western Union III after Marivic Clemens and Shirley Iglesias thrashed Jovi and Antonette 15-10, 15-6, while Robin and Shirley hammered Anthony and Antonette 15-13, 15-11 and partners Luisa and Marivic overwhelmed Girlie and Jovi 15-10, 15-11.
Western Union III were saved further blushes when Anthony Petrache and Girlie Cuya hammered Robin Gubat and Luisa Diaz 15-8, 15-13.
In the same category, Worley Parsons thrashed SK Engineering and Construction 4-0 when Kristine and Joel crushed Chris and Marc Joy 15-6, 15-8, Bill and Claudette outlasted Beth and Cindy 10-15, 15-13, 15-13, Kristine and Claudette thumped Chris and Cindy 15-9, 15-12 and the tandem of Joel and Bill edged Marc Joy and Beth 15-13, 12-15, 15-12.

Ladies A
In ladies A, Worley Parsons won 3-1 against Wataniya Telecom IV after Glorence Montesclaros and Jellica Espinosa overwhelmed Veronica Garcia and Amy Ignacio 15-13, 15-9, Anne Diaz and Jellica thrashed Jessica Magallanes and Amy 15-0, 15-0 and the girl power of Ness Aguilar and Glorence tamed Rochelle and Veronica15-11, 15-13.
Wataniya Telecom IV won when Jessica Magallanes and Rochelle Baldomero outlasted Anne Diaz and Ness Aguilar 11-15, 15-13, 19-18.
SK Engineering and Construction finished on level with Hankook Tires with 2 wins but they generated 7-5 points when Jeanette Tantiangco and Lhen Vidal edged Lanie Gaborno and Raquel Bautista 12-15, 15-13, 15-7 and Beng Pastor with Jeanette tamed Lyn Mendoza and Lanie Gaborno 15-3, 15-11.

Hankook Tires bounced back through Marianne Salunga and Lyn Mendoza when they outlasted Sonal Mashankar and Beng Pastor 14-16, 15-12, 15-13 and the tandem of Marianne and Raquel edged Sonal and Lhen Vidal 11-15, 15-12, 15-11.
Later that day, Hankook Tires gained 2 wins and 6 points as did Worley Parsons when Marianne and Lyn wasted no time to beat Anne and Ness 15-9, 15-6 and Marianne paired with Raquel thrashed Anne and Jellica 15-4, 15-8.
Worley Parsons won when Glorence and Jellica overwhelmed Lanie and Raquel in back to back sets 15-7, 15-7 and Ness with Glorence thumped Lyn and Lanie 15-13, 1512.

Worley Parsons won through Nihar and Kesha when they brushed aside Sang and Grace 15-6, 15-13 but the girl power Arlene San Mateo and Tanette was made to sweat before they edged Gren and Nelia 12-15, 15-10, 18-16.
SK Engineering acquired a total 4-0 victory against Hankook Tires when Abi Sedik and Angie Rodriguez crushed Sanse Mendoza and Ligaya Caedo 15-11, 15-13, Maggie Haddad and Thess Herrera outlasted Belinda Valdez 11-15, 15-9, 15-9, Abi and Thess Herrera edged Sanse and Cecille 15-6, 12-15, 15-11 and the tandem of Angie and Maggie overwhelmed Ligaya and Belinda in back to back sets 15-13, 15-13.
Later that day, Western Union scored a 3-1 win over Hankook Tires as Gren and Nelia edged Belinda and Cecille 15-13, 9-15, 15-12, while Sang and Nelia outlasted Sanse and Cecille 15-13, 7-15, 15-6 and Grace paired with Gren edged Ligaya and Belinda 18-19, 15-11, 15-12.
Hankook Tires did not go home empty handed as Sanse and Ligaya overcame Sang and Grace 15-10, 17-15.

Dodi El-Din and Marge El-Din stayed on top in the Beginners Class with 10 wins and 30 points as they thrashed Mary Jane Lamenggong and Grande Agao 8-15, 15-9, 15-11 before they crushed Ayem Miole and Sheryl Ilaya 15-0, 15-0.
On their trail are the tandem JR Briones and Bessy de Chavez with 10 wins and 26 points as they overpowered Marlon Villanueva and Emz Antonio 15-14, 15-2 and then thrashed April Fernandez and Revi Servan 15-3, 15-7.
Third best so far are Victor Toledo and Stella Cagampang with 9 wins and 24 points as they outlasted Merna Campomayor and Paul Panal 15-11, 14-15, 15-8 and then edged JR briones and Bessy Alexa 8-15, 15-14, 15-11.

The tandem of Merna Campomayor and Paul Panal hammered Ell Parado and Marivic Palad 15-11, 15-12 before outlasting Dodi El-Din and Marge El-Din 15-8, 12-15, 15-9.
In the same category, Mary Jane Lamenggong and Grande Agao edged Holden Ita-as and Daisy Villanueva 15-8, 7-15, 15-11 and then overcame Elmer Rivera and Irene Galdones 5-15, 15-7, 15-14.
The other matches saw Marlon Villanueva and Emz Antonio acquire 2 wins when they thumped Holden Ita-as and Daisy Villanueva 15-9, 15-12 and outlasted Elmer Rivera and Irene Galdones 11-15, 15-8, 15-11.
Ell Parado and Marivic Palad were made to sweat for victory when they played and beat Victor Toledo and Stella Cagampang 15-14, 8-15, 15-14 before they edged Gerry Torio and Marlyn Ocampo 15-8, 13-15, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Gerry Torio and Marlyn Ocampo brushed aside April Fernandez and Revi Servan 15-4, 15-10 and then wiped out Ayem Miole and Sheryl Ilaya 15-0, 15-0.
On the other hand, Holden Ita-as and Daisy Villanueva overwhelmed April Fernandez and Revi Servan in back to back sets 15-6, 15-6 while two pairs Elmer Rivera and Irene Galdones and Ayem Miole and Sheryl Ilaya won by default.
