Passengers seen at the Kuwait airport.
123,047 people leave Kuwait from Wed to Friday

A total of 123,047 people left the country through the three exits - the airport, Nuwaiseeb and Salmi borders - from Wednesday through Friday. Sources say the announcement of high school results and the declaration of summer holidays led to the unprecedented crowding at all three exits. A security source said 52,900 citizens and expatriates left the country through the airport while 31,723 people entered during the three-day period.

According to the source, 9,847 people left the country through the Salmi border while 6,388 people entered on Wednesday. On Thursday, 15,082 travelers left the country and 4,240 entered from the same border. A total of 12,041 people left on Friday while 3,572 entered the country.

The source said the queue became five-kilometers long and this forced employees to announce an alert status. At the Nuwaiseeb border, a total of 9,050 people arrived and 9,769 people left the country on Wednesday. The following day, 12,005 people left and 8,387 people entered and on Friday, 66,870 people entered and 10,403 people left the country through the border. The Ministry of Interior made prior preparations to tackle the rush, added the source.
