PM attends meet to discuss changes to school curricula Sheikh Nasser to visit 9 S. American countries

KUWAIT CITY, July 2: HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed, ministers and several lawmakers attended a meeting held in the National Assembly to discuss proposed changes in the academic curricula, reports Al-Dar daily.
The meeting focused on modifying parts in the curricula which reportedly undermine national unity and higher interests of the country. In this context, MP Adnan Al-Mutaawa said everyone agrees that the matter should be left to specialized people in the Ministry of Education. “They should follow-up and ensure that the curricula is according to the law, the Constitution, freedom, democracy, international laws and practices that give people the freedom to believe,” he added.
MP Abdulrahman Al-Anjari said he hates and condemns any sectarian or discriminatory talk or discussion and added that nations are not built using these means.
Sources said the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mudhi Al-Humoud promised to deal with all parts in the curricula which harm national unity.
Furthermore, MP Yousef Al-Zalzalah said he had a meeting earlier with the Prime Minister and Minister of Education during which Sheikh Nasser affirmed that he will not allow anything and anyone offend Islamic beliefs. Dr Humoud also agreed that curricula should be aimed at uniting the nation and building a strong society.

HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed will visit several countries, including nine South American countries, as part of an official tour which begins on July 11, reports Al-Anba daily.
A number of agreements on economic and commercial cooperation will be signed between Kuwait and the host countries during the three-week tour and sources say Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shamali and Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Al-Haroun, in addition to representatives from the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry will accompany the Prime Minister.
It is worth mentioning that it is the Prime Minister’s first visit to South America. Al-Mohammed paid official visits to Europe in September 2006, December 2007 and October 2009 and he visited Asia twice in May 2007 and July 2008. He also visited Africa in July 2009.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable of congratulations on Thursday to President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on occasion of his country’s national day.
HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent similar cables.
