KUWAIT CITY, July 2: Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaiti men will soon be able to sponsor their children of all ages, says Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled, adding “the ministry is about to issue a decision to this effect,” reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The decision grants legal residence to all children born to Kuwaiti women even after they become adults. The minister has reportedly instructed all senior officials in the ministry to take note of this directive which is aimed at stabilizing the social position of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis.
Reportedly, MP Maasouma Al-Mubarak extolled the minister’s step during Thursday’s parliamentary session and called it a ‘humanitarian gesture.’

Meanwhile, Beneficiaries of the Fund for the Needy have received nearly KD 176, 902,000, and roughly 2009 applications lacking the basic requirement were rejected, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting reliable sources from the Finance Ministry.
The same sources noted the ministry, in collaboration with the Banks Union, will set the appropriate mechanism to re-open the Needy Fund to receive more applicants, whereas interested applicants will be allowed to register through an alphabetical system.
Sources noted the new method of registration will benefit the applicants, who will be given six months time limit to complete the registration, starting from the re-opening date as previously announced.
Meanwhile, several transactions have been completed, and the beneficiaries have so far declined to receive them for unknown reasons, sources added.
Sources indicated the Ministry of Finance and the Banks Union will meet daily to receive interested applicants, after the executive by-law on the Fund for the Needy has been issued.
