Ribs in sweet sauce

 Ingredients:
4 pounds spareribs, sawed in thirds across bones;
2 tbsp garlic powder, divided;
1 tbsp vegetable oil;
1/2 cup soy sauce;
2 tbsp packed brown sugar

Method:
Cut ribs into 1-rib pieces and toss with 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Brown the ribs in hot oil in an oven over medium-high heat. Stir 1/3 cup water, less sodium soy sauce and brown sugar. Cover and simmer 1 hour, or until ribs are done, stirring occasionally.
