Govt has no right to control MPs elected by the people: Buramiya Panel studies proposal against the Israelis KUWAIT CITY, June 27: The government has no right to control the lawmakers who have been elected by the people as their representatives, reports Al-Wasat daily quoting MP Daifallah Buramiya.
Stressing a lawmaker cannot be controlled by anyone to serve personal interests, Buramiya disclosed he is against the continuation of the irregularities at Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). He argued the changes made by the chamber contravene the Constitution because a law can only be amended with a law, not a resolution. He claimed the chamber operates without any legitimate cover and it has stolen funds from the citizens.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs studied the proposal on prohibiting all contact and dealings with the Zionist entity and decided to modify some articles in the existing law, instead of legislating a new law, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Committee rapporteur Waleed Al-Tabtabaei said they held many meetings to discuss the proposal and unanimously agreed to prohibit all dealings with Israel because it is still refusing to cooperate and insists on dealing with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip savagely.
“Since the current law is good, the committee decided to just add some new articles, such as prohibition of travel to Israel, promotion and advertising of Israeli products and so on,” he added.
