Info Ministry planning to sue Al-Jazeera ‘Interior’ searches for ‘prison leaks’ KUWAIT CITY, June 25: Ministry of Information is planning to sue the Al-Jazeera Satellite channel for telecasting the symposium which was organized by MP Musallam Al-Barrak, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The ministry contends the telecast of the symposium has violated the Audio Visual Law.
It can be recalled a court has issued a decision banning TV or radio channels from broadcasting any issue concerning the imprisoned journalist Mohammed Abdul-Kader Al-Jassem. However, it has been reported the topic of the symposium was the imprisonment of Al-Jassem.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior is looking for persons inside the Central Prison who are said to have helped detained journalist Mohammed Abdul-Kader Al-Jassem record a conversation which was aired during the symposium dubbed Freedom held last Wednesday at the Diwaniya of MP Khaled Al-Tahous in Aqeelah, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable sources.
The symposium was attended by MPs Musallam Al-Barrak, Khaled Tahous, Falah Al-Sawagh, Al-Saifi Mubarak Al-Saifi and political activists Abdullah Al-Naibari and Abdullah Al-Nafisi. The Interior Ministry considers the issue a serious security violation.
The sources confirmed investigation is still underway and Al-Jassem may be summoned for interrogation to find out who took his pictures while he was speaking inside the facility.
