Camel-breeders to get work permits PAYS panel meets minister KUWAIT CITY, June 25: Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Sector at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Mansour Al-Mansour issued a circular asking all labor departments to accept and process the work permit applications of camel-breeders who want to bring in highly-trained and skilled workers from abroad, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Mansour has issued the circular based on a memo issued earlier by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr Mohammad Al-Afasi.
The circular nullifies circular No. 152/2002 which banned the issuing of work permits to this group. Accordingly, employers will now be able to bring expatriate workers and those already in the country can transfer their residence too.
Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Dr Fadhel Safar signed an emergency maintenance contract for roads in Jahra.
The KD 1.37 million contract includes fixing damages caused due to drilling, drainage spills and cracks. Moreover, all the roads in the governorate including those inside ministries and government authorities’ premises are covered in the contract. The maintenance activities will be in line with the technical specifications mentioned in the contract.
In the meantime, the Parliamentary Youth and Sports Affairs Committee met Thursday with the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr Mohammed Al-Afasi and another official from the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, reports Al-Seyassah.
Issues discussed at the meeting involved latest developments in the relationship between Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS) and Kuwait Football Association (KFA).
Al-Afasi, and the vice director of PAYS, Issam Jaffer, affirmed that PAYS has endeavored to apply the local sport laws by evicting those who occupied the KFA headquarters illegally, until a legal committee has been formed.
On his side, Jaffer said PAYS will neither recognize nor deal with any authority violating local sport laws, particularly Law Number 5/2005.
