Bedoun posing as royal held selling citizenship for money Murder attempt on visitor US citizen
KUWAIT CITY, June 22: The Criminal Investigation Depart-ment has arrested a 30-year-old bedoun for impersonating a member of the ruling family working for the State Security Department, reports Al-Anba daily.
It has been reported the man said he had connections with higher authorities and could help bedouns get Kuwaiti nationality.
A police source said the man was arrested when border police received information that an unidentified police captain working with the State Security department was wooing bedouns living in Jahra that he can help them get the Kuwaiti nationality if they were willing to pay money.
This information was relayed to the Criminal Investigation Department and the cheat was put under surveillance. When he was confronted he claimed to be a member of the ruling family. Reliable sources said the man was riding in luxurious cars and visited the houses of bedouns to offer them help.
The impersonator allegedly visited a bedoun family consisting of 34 people and showed them a fake list with their names on it allegedly signed and stamped by the Council of Ministers approving their naturalization and received from the family KD 30,000.
Armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, police raided the man’s house and seized from him many forged documents concerning naturalization of bedouns in addition to forged stamps similar to the one he showed the family.
During interrogation the suspect admitted to deceiving more than 500 people, including Iranians and citizens of other GCC states. He added he charged each person between KD 10,000 and KD 20,000 on a case by case basis.
Police are investigating how the man got the official papers and stamps similar to the ones used by the Council of Ministers.
Murder bid on American: Police are looking for an unidentified person who allegedly tried in vain to kill a US citizen who had entered the country on visit visa, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports the target was riding in a call taxi and the Afghan driver saw a man following him in a Jeep. He called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior but by the time help arrived the suspect had collided with the taxi and upon impact the vehicle overturned.
The driver and the American escaped unhurt. However, the American says he knows nothing about the incident or who the person pursuing him was.
Wanted Kuwaiti held: The Hawalli police have arrested a Kuwaiti man who was wanted by law for failing to pay KD 25,000 debts to a company, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The daily did not give more details.
KD 2,900 stolen from account: A 37-year-old Jordanian has filed a complaint with the Salmiya Police Station accusing an unidentified person of withdrawing KD 2,900 from a Kuwaiti bank account in America, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Police nab drunk duo: The Hawalli police have arrested two Kuwaitis for consuming alcohol, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The drunkards were arrested for reckless driving and police discovered they were under the influence of alcohol.
Police have allegedly seized two bottles of alcohol from their car.
Hunt for burglar: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who allegedly broke into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Jahra and escaped with jewelry worth KD 600, cell phones and electrical appliances, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
Youth attempts suicide: A Kuwaiti youth who tried in vain to end his life by slitting his wrist, has been admitted to a hospital, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
In a similar, unrelated incident a 33-year-old Iranian man, was rushed to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital. The man reportedly slit his wrist with a broken bottle. Cases of suicide attempts have been registered against both persons.
