Drunkard holds family hostage Filipina attempts suicide
KUWAIT CITY, June 22: A Bedoun, believed to be in his 30s, reportedly entered his house with a cleaver in hand and closed all doors. He allegedly held his family hostage. Acting on information, Jahra securitymen, led by Brigadier Mohammad Tana, rushed to the scene, engaged the man in conversation and somehow managed to control him.
Sources say the man was under the influence of alcohol. A case was registered against him and he was referred to authorities.
Suicide attempted: A Filipino housemaid, who had been found unconscious after taking an overdose of pills, in an attempt to commit suicide at her sponsor’s home in Yarmouk, was referred to the Amiri Hospital by paramedics for treatment when the sponsor notified the Operations Room and a rescue team arrived to assist the situation. Security sources said a quantity of medicine was found beside the maid. The case has been registered for investigation.
Guard stabbed: A 22-year old drunken Bedoun, who had just returned from jail for various drug cases, stabbed the guard of a building in Salmiya during a quarrel between them.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene, following a distress call the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received about the incident, and the victim was carried to the Mubarak Hospital for treatment.
Initial investigations revealed the suspect lives in Sulaibiya, and he rented the flat in Salmiya area to consume drugs with his friends. The case has been registered, and investigation is in progress to arrest the friends.
Smuggling in car boot: Security operatives at the Salmi border exit arrested a GCC national who tried to smuggle his brother to a neighboring country by hiding him in the trunk of the car.
Sources said the driver aroused suspicion of security officers during checking and they ordered him to open the trunk where the brother was found hiding. The man and his brother have since been referred to the concerned authority for further investigation.
Maid hurt escaping: A 20-year old Ethiopian housemaid sustained injuries and other fractures to the body when she fell from the first floor of a building in Hawalli, as she tried to escape from her sponsor using a rope. Paramedics rushed the maid to the Mubarak Hospital for treatment, after the Operations Room received information about the incident. The case has been registered.
