Out of the projects, the Ministry of Communications has three enterprises pertinent to mail and communication, while the ministries of Public Works and Health have sewage and hospital projects respectively, Adel Al-Roumi, chief of the technical agency for studying development projects and initiatives, said in news remarks.
The committee on national projects has also consented to a couple of investment projects; one for a power plant and the other for setting up new six labor cities at different areas in Kuwait, Al-Roumi added.
Moreover, preparations are underway for putting out to tender several other development projects for a number of ministries and state agencies, he said.
He noted that his agency has already qualified unlisted companies to set up the first gas power plant in the country in line with Kuwait’s national development plan, which envisages the private sector’s involvement in strategic development enterprises.
The gas power plant is expected to have a capacity of 1,500 megawatts and to produce 100 million gallons of desalinated water a day for an investment period of 25 years, he pointed out.
