50 ‘absconders’ held
KUWAIT CITY, June 16: A Kuwaiti citizen filed a case with police officers in Qairawan and reported his 23-year old daughter left the house two days ago and hasn’t returned. Police have since circulated her details at checkpoints to arrest her.
Pakistani teen rescued: A 19-year-old Pakistani was rescued from drowning in the sea opposite Marina Mall in Salmiya Tuesday.
Paramedics and securitymen rushed to the location immediately after the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior received information on the incident. When they arrived at the scene, the other sea-goers have already rescued the Pakistani teenager who was taken to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital.
3 taxis set alight: Police are looking for an arsonist for setting fire to three roaming taxis belonging to a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The suspect reportedly tiptoed his way into the man’s farm in Kabad and set fire to the vehicles and escaped.
A finger of accusation has been pointed at a compatriot. Police will summon him for interrogation.
Kuwaiti teen killed: An 18-year-old Kuwaiti teenager died on the spot after his car overturned on the King Fahd Expressway, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The remains of the victim have been referred to Forensics. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
However, another daily quoting eyewitness reports said speeding was the cause of his death.
Massive traffic crackdown: Traffic police from the Capital Governorate during a crackdown on reckless motorists over the past three days are said to have issued 1,700 citations and impounded 214 cars, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The arrested motorists have been referred to the authorities for further action.
Wanted man caught: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man who had been sentenced in absentia to 12 months imprisonment on a criminal charge, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to reports the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, was found fast asleep inside his car at an unidentified location.
Police say the man was under the influence of drugs.
Indian attempts suicide: A 33-year-old Indian woman was rushed to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital and given stomach wash when she tried in vain to end her life by consuming a poisonous substance inside her home in Hawalli, reports Al-Rai daily.
A case has been registered against the woman. Police are investigating why she wanted to end her life.
2 held with recycled stamps: The Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested two Asians. They were caught red-handed selling recycled revenue stamps in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports police then raided an outhouse at an unidentified location where the two men lived and seized from them 200 stamps and referred them to the authorities.
Son takes money by force: A Kuwaiti man has filed a complaint with the police accusing his son and the friend of his son of breaking into his car and stealing 100 Saudi riyals, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The father said his son asked him for money and when he refused, he with the help of the friend broke the side glass of his vehicle and stole the money.
50 ‘absconders’ held: Personnel from the General Immigration Department recently raided a number of domestic labor offices and arrested 50 people who had been reported absconding by their sponsors, reports Alam Alyawm.
A reliable source told the daily all those arrested have been referred to the Public Prosecution prior to their deportation from the country.
