Lankan held with heroin
KUWAIT CITY, June 14: A Sri Lankan expatriate was apprehended by security forces in possession of heroin.
Based on a tip-off received by Director General of the Anti-drug General Department Brigadier Ahmad Al-Khalifa about activities of the suspect, who reportedly supplied drugs to addicts in their homes, a team of detectives was formed to pursue the man and bring him to justice.
In the meantime, an undercover agent bargained for three grams of heroin with KD 90, and the suspect was arrested upon delivery of the drug in front of his house in Doha. Security officers went ahead to search inside his car, where a considerable quantity of the contraband and a scale were found. The suspect has since been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Wife-beater wanted in fraud: When police took into custody an unidentified Kuwaiti man because he beat his wife, they found he was wanted by law in connection with a financial fraud worth KD 60,000, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
However, at the police station the man admitted to beating his wife because he said he found on her cell phone love messages sent by an unidentified person.
The couple has been referred to the Al-Salam Police Station.
Garments shop hit: Police are looking for an unidentified person who allegedly broke into a shop selling audio products in Hawalli and escaped with KD 1,200, reports Al-Rai daily.
It has been reported the thief left in a hurry and forgot to take his gloves. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
