Pakistanis and Egyptian held bribing traffic cop Lankan hangs himself to death

KUWAIT CITY, June 14: Capital securitymen arrested two Pakistanis and an Egyptian for trying to bribe an officer at the Capital Governorate’s Technical Examination Department on Sunday.
Sources say the men approached an officer and offered to pay KD 40 for each document they wanted to get processed. The officer pretended to accept the offer, asked them to wait and informed the head of the department who asked him to call police and keep pretending until securitymen arrive. Sources say securitymen then caught the trio while offering money to the officer and referred them to authorities.

Lankan commits suicide: A Sri Lankan domestic worker committed suicide by tying his own neck to the ceiling of his room inside his sponsor’s residence in Ferdous on Monday. The sponsor made a distress call to inform security operatives at the Operations Room about the ugly incident. Security officers and paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after the call. They removed corpse of the deceased and took it to Forensics for further investigation, having concluded that the incident was a suicide in the preliminary investigation.

Youths held drunk: Police arrested Sunday an undisclosed number of Kuwaiti men and women, in their 30s and 20s, for consuming alcohol in Salmiya.
While patrolling the area, the securitymen heard loud music from a vehicle, so they signaled for the driver to pull over for routine inspection.  When they approached the car to demand for the identification cards of the group, the securitymen noticed the confused state of the driver and his companions — all Kuwaitis — who were under the influence of alcohol. A case was registered and the group was referred to the relevant security department for prosecution.

Syrian stabbed: A Syrian suffered from a fracture in his right hand and stab wound in his back after engaging in a public brawl with three Bedouns in Sulaibiya Industrial Area Sunday.
Securitymen and medical emergency personnel rushed to the location immediately after receiving information on the fight. They referred the Syrian to the nearest hospital, while the three Bedouns were taken to a police station for interrogation. Initial investigations revealed the Syrian works in a car repair shop and the Bedouns asked him to fix their car. After one week the vehicle broke down again, so they took the car to the shop but the Syrian refused to fix it . They had a heated argument, which escalated into a fistfight and the Bedouns used a sharp object to attack the victim.

For drugs sake: Police have arrested a 19-year-old Kuwaiti drug addict for breaking into cars parked in front of mosques and the Cooperative Society in the Mubarak Al-Kabir governorate, reports Al-Anba daily.
The youth was caught red-handed and during interrogation he admitted to breaking into six cars. He said he did it because he had no money to buy drugs.

Undue attention: Security operatives were dispatched to Salmiya Sunday evening after the Operations Room received news about several Kuwaitis gathering around three transvestites.
Upon arrival, the officers dispersed the crowd and took the cross- dressers into custody. They have since been referred to the concerned authority for necessary action.

Shop broken into: Police are looking for an unidentified person who allegedly broke into a shop selling audio products in Hawalli and escaped with KD 1,200, reports Al-Rai daily.
It has been reported the thief left in a hurry and forgot to take his gloves. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.

Fraudster nabbed: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man who had been sentenced in absentia in connection with financial fraud worth KD 110,000 and referred him to the Sentences Enforcement Department, reports a local Arabic daily.
According to reports the accused was arrested while driving along a road in Salmiya.
