50 Kuwaitis, expats fall ill after eating spoilt food

KUWAIT CITY, June 12: A total of 50 Kuwaitis and expatriates were admitted to Jahra Hospital Saturday as they suffered from severe stomach pain after eating spoilt food from a number of restaurants in the area.
Head of Emergency Department at Jahra Municipality Ali Al-Quaidi revealed they closed six restaurants in Al-Saleel, Jahra Industrial Area and Saad Al-Abdullah for violating health regulations and operating without licenses, while others violated the public properties law.
Al-Quaidi urged the victims to file a complaint at his department to punish the owners of these restaurants. He also advised the victims to submit the restaurant bills and medical test results to substantiate their complaint.

Maid dies in fall: An Asian housemaid died when she fell from the fifth floor of a building in Mahboula Friday.
The Operations Room dispatched a team of medical emergency personnel and securitymen to the location immediately after receiving information on the incident. However, the housemaid was already dead when they arrived at the location, so they referred her remains to Forensics.
A case was registered and investigations are underway to determine the actual cause of death.

Youth stabbed: A Kuwaiti citizen in his early 20s was stabbed in the left hand during clashes with two other youths at a famous commercial complex in Sharq.
Based on information received by the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry about the fight, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene and referred the youth to the Amiri Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the rest of the feuding party had fled the scene by the time the rescue team arrived; however, the case was registered for investigation to arrest them.

Child rescued: An eight-year-old Kuwaiti child has been saved from drowning in a swimming pool at a famous hotel in the Free Trade Zone.
Security sources revealed the child was swimming in the pool when he drifted to the deep part. Luckily, one of the people in the pool noticed him and rescued him. Paramedics administered first aid on the child, who was referred later to Sabah Hospital. He is said to be in a stable condition.

Son reported missing: A 40-year-old Arab expatriate told police officers in Hawalli that his 19-year-old son left home after a minor disagreement between them, and he refused to come back.
The man added all attempts to trial his son have proven futile, and noted his mobile has also been switched off. The case has since been registered for investigation, while his details have been circulated at checkpoints for his arrest.

Asian worker revived: An Asian construction worker suffered a deep cut in the head when he fell from an under construction house in Thahar Saturday.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene after receiving information on the incident.
Upon arrival at the scene, the paramedics discovered the Asian worker’s heart had stopped beating, so they tried to resuscitate him and then referred him to the nearest hospital.
A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
