Iran illusions in circle of defeat
THE term ‘government man’ is not just used for anyone holding a high position in a country. It is an attribute that the leader or president gains through his ruling experience. It seems the Iranian regime lacks government men who can manage its relations with the world in a way that safeguards the country’s interests and at the same time boosts stability in the region.
The Iranian response to the Security Council’s resolution No. 1929 proved that the regime’s leaders are experts in the art of manufacturing blocked roads. When the entire world says its decisive word, no country can turn its back and say the right place for such resolutions is the wastebasket, because in this way it is closing the circle on itself and losing its right to resort to international institutions for judgment on any issue. This is what Iran did when President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the appropriate place for the resolution on latest sanctions is the wastebasket
Since Moscow and Beijing abandoned Iran, it means there is a strong belief that Iranian intentions are not good, especially because Russia is the main partner in the nuclear project. Russia was initially against the sanctions and it did not change its stance to settle accounts with Iran, but it did so after learning about Iran’s real intentions. This can be considered an indirect insult to Iran which is being asked to prove its good intentions by adhering to international resolutions and not to push the region to a new war, which could have detrimental results for everyone, especially the Iranian nation. This is because the last resolution falls under the seventh chapter of the United Nations’ covenant which allows the use of military force, in case the concerned country does not comply with the decision of the international community.
The world is not a farm owned by the arrogant. Iran cannot stand against the international community, but some of its leaders are under the illusion that they have the ability to oppose it and defeat it and this can prove detrimental, especially at this stage when there is an international consensus on fighting all forms of terrorism. Everyone knows that the Iranian regime is deeply involved in supporting terrorist organizations and there is a lot evidence to prove this fact. Hence, a regime of this nature will not be allowed to possess mass destruction weapons.
If we go by the old saying ‘Books are known by their titles,’ then Tehran has already said its word by violating international regulations and closing all doors against efforts that could save the Iranian nation from a bitter confrontation, especially since it has been living in an economic and political crises since around 30 years and can no longer bear more confrontations.
However, it seems the Iranian leadership does not learn from past lessons. When it bets that the latest sanctions will unite the nation and increase support to the regime, it proves that it lacks good and far-sighted political thinking. In other words, Iran wants to strengthen the regime’s base by getting into a confrontation with the international community, because the land under it started shaking with the presidential elections a year ago. It does not care much for the nation, which means the hot heads that rule Iran need someone to cool them or more precisely need a shock to wake them up from the illusions of arrogance. The coming days guarantee that things will be put in their place.
