‘Bloc awaits verdict on chief of PAYS to proceed with grilling’ MPs eye Haroun’s grilling over KCCI legal status
KUWAIT CITY, June 11: Many MPs allege that members of the Popular Labor Bloc who presented the sport grilling will slow down their action until Monday before they resume, reports Al-Dar daily.
In actual fact, they are waiting for the final verdict to reinstate the head of Public Authority for Youth and Sports Fouad Al-Falah to his position, the MPs added, stressing they are surprised at the flagrant intervention of the judiciary.
Meanwhile, a number of MPs are planning to submit an interpellation against the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Al-Haroun over the legal status of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), reports Al-Shahid daily.
Reliable sources say as many as 15 MPs are supporting this move and the inquest, which reportedly has four angles, is likely to be submitted before the end of the current term. Those supporting the inquest say the minister defends “this illegal and unconstitutional chamber, because he has close ties with its members.”
In the meantime, MP Dulaihi Al-Hajeri revealed that he will forward five queries to Al-Haroun and will stress on the need to legislate laws to correct the chamber’s position, in addition to bringing it under the umbrella of the Constitution.
“The responsibility of correcting the chamber’s position falls on the National Assembly too,” he stated.
Grilling
Meanwhile, MP Saleh Al-Mulla refuted reports that he will submit a grilling request against HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah on June 14 over the sports case, saying “we are waiting to see what procedures the government will take in this regard and after that, we will decide whether or not to submit an inquest,” reports Al-Dar daily.
In case, it is proved that a violation took place, we will go ahead with the grilling and the National Labor Bloc will specify the angles of the grilling and will choose the date as well, he added.
Reliable sources said the bloc is waiting for some court verdicts due on June 13 and will act accordingly. It will also decide whether to interrogate the Prime Minister or Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr Mohammad Al-Afasi on this issue.
In another development, the approval of 38 salary scale proposals cost the government KD 160 million and if all the 120 proposals are approved, it will cost the state half billion dinars, Al-Anba daily quoted Undersecretary at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Mohammed Al-Roumi as saying.
Emphasizing that CSC is a neutral authority, Al-Roumi said attempts are being made to rectify a defect in the civil service system and to standardize financial privileges for employees in all specializations in ministries and government authorities.
Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Ahmed Al-Mansour said “negotiations over the salary scale of ministry employees are going on with the CSC.”
Commenting on the issue, Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Development at CSC Zaid Al-Nowaif said they are studying a proposal on granting allowances to seven employee categories in the ministry and “it will be approved after studies are completed.”
