Amir talks to ministers on Arabian tour

KUWAIT, May 24, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah headed an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet on Monday, to brief the ministers on the outcomes of his recent Arab tour and the agreements that were signed on its sidelines.
The meeting was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Jassem Mohammad Al-Khorafi, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, as well as members of the Cabinet.
During the meeting, His Highness the Amir explained the outcomes of his Arab tour, which saw him in Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon from May 15-20.
He briefed the ministers of the “positive and fruitful” talks that he held with his brothers, the leaders of these four Arab countries, as well as top officials.
He said that talks focused on means to boost bilateral cooperation in the common interest, as well as Arab and international developments, efforts to revive the Middle East peace process, the latest developments in Iraq and efforts to form a new government there, alongside the Iranian nuclear dossier, and other Arab issues.
His Highness the Amir also briefed the ministers on the agreements that were signed on the sidelines of the tour, which aimed at increasing cooperation in the media, economic, technical, commercial, investment and scientific spheres, so as to push forth economic partnership between Kuwait and its sister states.
In Egypt, His Highness the Amir said he visited President Hosni Mubarak and was reassured of his wellness after the surgical operation he recently underwent in Germany, wishing Mubarak a swift recovery and good health.
The two leaders discussed regional, international and Arab affairs, as well as the Middle East peace process.
In Jordan, His Highness the Amir met with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and top state officials. Talks focused on bilateral and regional matters of mutual concern, which reflected the distinguished sisterly relations between the two countries and the identical views that the two countries had on current Arab and international issues, including the Palestinian crisis.
