Kuwaiti held trying to encash forged cheque for KD 0.5 mn
KUWAIT CITY, May 21: A Kuwaiti man was arrested while trying to encash a forged cheque worth a half million dinars at a local bank, reports Al-Rai daily.
Reportedly, the citizen presented the cheque which was issued by a company to a bank employee. Since the amount was huge, the employee told the citizen that it will take some time to process the transaction and asked him to wait. Meanwhile, the employee quickly contacted the company which supposedly issued the cheque and was told that it did not issue any cheque worth the amount to anyone. The employee then informed the Operations Room of Interior Ministry and within minutes, securitymen arrived and arrested the Kuwaiti. During interrogation, the citizen admitted that he found the cheque at the Kuwait Stock Exchange building and forged some details.
Family rescued at sea: A boat carrying a four-member Egyptian family capsized at the sea near Bneid Al-Gar, causing injuries and additional fractures to the occupants.
Based on a report the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received about the accident, Coast Guards accompanied by Marine Rescue Men rushed to the location in less than 30 minutes, and with efforts, they managed to find the boat and the victims. Divers transferred the victims ashore, where paramedics were waiting, and they were given treatment on the spot.
Securitymen have since advised that visitors to sea must take the necessary precautionary measures. The family went on to express appreciation to the rescue team for a job well done.
Maid injured in fall: A Sri Lankan housemaid in her 40s was severely injured with fractures when she jumped from her sponsor’s home, in an attempt to abscond.
Securitymen and paramedics were prompt to the location when a call was placed to the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry to report the incident, and she was referred to the Farwaniya Hospital for treatment. The case was registered.
Jewellery, KD 300 stolen: A thief broke into a Syrian expatriate’s flat and escaped with KD 300 and gold jewelry worth KD 150 on Wednesday night, say sources.
The Syrian who is believed to be in his 30s filed a report at Wafra Police Station and said when he returned home with his family, he found the door open and realized there was a burglary.
Securitymen and Criminal Evidence Department officials visited the place and collected fingerprints, say sources.
