Arab duo nabbed for kidnapping people in police guise, robbery Fake scratch and win cards scam uncovered
KUWAIT CITY, May 20: Securitymen arrested a Bedoun and an Emirati for stealing and kidnapping people by impersonating policemen, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Police patrols on routine duty noticed the men removing iron plates from livestock pens in Kabad area and on confronting them, the men confessed that they wanted to steal the plates.
During investigations, securitymen discovered that the culprits had tools and flashers like those used by policemen and referred them to Al-Sulaibiya Police Station.
Scam uncovered: Inspection teams affiliated to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry seized a large quantity of fake scratch and win cards in Hawalli, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Assistant Undersecretary for Commercial Control Affairs reportedly received information that many companies were getting dubious scratch and win cards printed without getting permission from the ministry and thus cheating the public. Subsequently, inspection teams raided the headquarters of a company and found a large quantity of such cards and sales receipts of cards sold to other companies.
All those involved in the printing and sale of these cards will be arrested and referred to Criminal Prosecution, say sources.
Kuwaiti shoots at friends: Hawalli securitymen arrested a drunk Kuwaiti for firing at his friends after they shunted him out of a private party held at an apartment in Salmiya, reports Al-Rai daily.
Sources say the culprit had a disagreement with his compatriot friends at the party and they unceremoniously showed him the door, following which the man shot rounds at the entrance of the building to scare them.
The friends then called police who arrived and arrested the culprit.
Spouses exchange threats: A wo-man filed a complaint at Al-Sabahiya Police Station accusing her Kuwaiti ex-husband of threatening to kill her, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The ex-husband will be summoned for interrogation, say sources.
In a separate incident, a Kuwaiti man filed a complaint accusing his Iraqi ex-wife of threatening and insulting him.
Wanted man caught walking: Sec-uritymen arrested a Kuwaiti man wanted by law for defaulting KD 25,000, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Sources say the suspect was caught while walking on a street at a very late hour and was referred to authorities for legal action.
Liquor bottles destroyed: Sentences Enforcement Department officials destroyed nearly 20,000 bottles of liquor near the Seventh Ring Road, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Sources say the bottles were confiscated from smugglers who tried to enter the country through the borders.
Robbery at barber shop: Police are looking for a thief who broke into a barber shop in Fahaheel area and escaped with KD 120 and the ATM card of the shop’s Bangladeshi owner, reports Al-Shahid daily.
The owner filed a complaint at the area police station and added that the thief withdrew KD 230 from his account. Sources say Criminal Evidence Department men collected fingerprints from the scene and investigations are going on.
Police hunt hoax caller: Police are looking for a hoax caller who called Salwa Police Station and said a bomb was planted on a street near Al-Taa’wan Street behind a private club, reports Al-Shahid daily.
On receiving the information, sources say, securitymen and anti-explosive teams rushed to the scene and scanned the whole area, but didn’t find anything suspicious.
A case was registered against the hoax caller.
Son threatens father: Police are looking for a 27-year-old Kuwaiti who allegedly threatened to kill his father, crushed the latter’s mobile phone and escaped, reports Al-Shahid daily.
The culprit’s father had filed a complaint at Al-Firdous Police Station.
Ex-husband beats woman: An Arab woman in her 20s lodged a complaint at Sharq Police Station accusing her ex-husband of assaulting and battering her, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Reportedly, the culprit was asking the woman to pay some dues and the woman said she will pay them later as she didn’t have the required amount with her.
Ahmadi criminal caught: A Kuwaiti man who was wanted by law for his involvement in a criminal case was arrested in Ahmadi, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Sources say patrols on routine duty stopped the suspect and noticed his nervousness while talking to them. On checking their records, patrols realized the man was wanted in a criminal case and referred him to authorities.
Sheep stolen from pen: A Kuwaiti man on Wednesday filed a complaint at Wafra Police Station against unknown persons he accused of stealing six sheep from his animal pen.
The Kuwaiti told police he discovered the theft when he visited the pen, along with his Asian laborer, so he immediately reported the incident to police.
A case was registered and investigations are in progress to arrest the thieves.
