Spicy Goan Cyborgs clinch ACDC League title Nusantara, Pin Kickers bag runner-up posts
KUWAIT CITY, May 15: At the conclusion of the ACDC 2010 Winter League Bowling Team Tournament held at the Kuwait Sea Sport Club bowling lanes, the spicy pin breakers of the Goan Cyborgs sustained their first round performance with a more impressive showing in the second round to clinch the coveted title with plenty to spare. The Indonesian strikers of Nusantara who started strongly in round one settled for the first runner up honors while Pin Kickers squad who failed to put up a rally in the final round bagged the second runner up posts.
Back to the 13-week elimination round where the Top 6 teams moved on to vie for the title in the double round robin championship series, the Goan Cyborgs emerged as the top seed after compiling a total of 276.5 points followed by Nusantara-241, Pin Kickers 238, Pi Reapers-234, Amateurs-233.5 and Delta Corporation with 230 points. The other participating teams finished the elims as follows, Kuwait Airways-229.5, Jazeera Airways-228, TISOK-227.5, Abannte-223, Fre Keglers-211, D’ Strikers-207.5 and Frost Real Estate-188.5.
Going to the first round of the finals, the Pin Kickers was at the helm of the 6-team field after carding 1818 pin falls through scores of 902 and 916 pin falls in the first two games. Two marks behind the early leader was Nusantara who rolled 849 and 950 for a total of 1799 pin falls while just a hairline away in third place were the Goan Cyborgs who submitted 1798 pin falls followed by the Amateurs, Pin Reapers and Delta Corporation with 1773, 1648 and 1634 respectively. In game three, Nusantara bowled an impressive 963 to go up by four marks over deposed leader Pin Kickers 2762-2721. The Goan Cyborgs remained within striking distance with 2689 together with the Amateurs (2621) and Delta Corporation (2585).
After another game, Nusantara retained the lead with 3666 pin falls but game five saw the Goan Cyborgs making a bold move where they succeeded in overtaking Nusantara 4523-4486. At the end of the first round, the Goan Cyborgs were up by 36 pin falls over the Nusantara 5402-5366 and going to the next six games of the second round the rest of the teams checked in as follows, Pin Kickers-5316, Delta Corporation-5265, Amateurs-5222 and Pin Reapers-4967.
In the second round of the finals, the Goan Cyborgs (6352) wasted no time and stretched their advantage to a whooping 143 pin falls by out scoring the field in game one. After crashing back to ground zero in game with an 825 score, the Cyborgs made the remaining games a battle for second place as they went up by 177 pin falls over its nearest rival at this stage. By cruising to game scores of 899, 948, 911 and a final tally of 10891 pin falls, the Goan Cyborgs’ crew of Uly Menezes, Lloyd D’ Souza, Colin Costa, Lloyd Fernandes, Nelson D” Souza, Adrian Noronha, Brian Fernandes, Fatima Fernandes, Janice D’ Souza and Nadine Dias went home with the title tucked under their belts. First runner up Nusantara who crossed the wire with 10586 pin falls was bannered in this league by Nunun Mulyana, Gofar Husin, Ahmad Fahmi, Ayi Mulyana, Yulia Sudrajat, Imam, Naning and Jati Heri Winarto. Second runner up Pin Kickers who finished with 10453 was headed in this league by Kiko Andaya, Alex Cervantes, Jess Tolentino, Alfred Avila, Jazel Pangilinan, Rico Umali, Chris Bulacja, Mina Andaya and Neng Cervantes.
The rest of the finalist finished as follows, Delta Corporation-10453, Amateurs-19442 and Pin Reapers-10191.
The other awardees of the league are as follows, Team Awards: Abannte-High Game Scratch (964) and High Series Scratch (2721), TISOK-High Game with Handicap (1037) and High Series with Handicap (2829), Goan Cyborgs-Triple High Series with Handicap (612) and Doubles High Series with Handicap (467). Individual Awards: Caloy Garay (246) and Neng Cervantes (245)-High Game Scratch, Jazel Pangilinan (256) and Neng Cervantes (275)-High Game with Handicap, Mousa Abdullah (645) and Vicky Navarro (577)-High Series Scratch, Mousa Abdullah (660) and Vicky Navarro (637)-High Series with Handicap, Mathew Eapen and Anna Marie Aroma-Most Improved Players.
