Asian gang kidnaps two women out shopping in Hawally
KUWAIT CITY, May 9: An Asian expatriate has filed a case at Hawalli Police Station saying an Asian gang kidnapped his daughter-in-law and granddaughter and is demanding ransom to secure their release. The complainant said his daughter-in-law and granddaughter went to the market and after some time, he received a call saying they were kidnapped and that he should pay a certain amount of money to get them released. Investigations are going on and securitymen are trying to find the kidnappers.
KD 20m fines collected: The General Traffic Department collected more than KD 20 million as fines for traffic violations from individuals and companies over the past four months, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Drugs seized at airport: Officials at the Kuwait International Airport foiled an Egyptian passenger’s attempt to smuggle drugs into the country and recovered 1,793 narcotic pills hidden in secret compartments of his bags, reports Al-Shahid daily. The smuggler and the contraband have been referred to authorities.
Addicted to lighter gas: Police detained a 10-year-old boy who looked disoriented and referred him to authorities, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Sources say a Kuwaiti man in Sabah Al-Salem was shocked on seeing the disoriented condition of the boy and called police. It was found that the boy was addicted to the smell of gas in lighters (butane).
4 Kuwaitis lose nationality: The Higher Committee for Verification of Nationality issued a decision revoking the nationality of four Kuwaitis, reports Al-Shahid daily. The citizenship of these four people was withdrawn because their names were not included in the files of their fathers, said sources.
