Forged entry - 5 years, hefty fine Kuwaiti man, son, daughter dead in accident, wife, girl in hospital
KUWAIT CITY, May 9: The parliamentary Interior and Defense Committee has prepared a report on the proposal of the government to amend Amiri decree number 17/1959 on the residency of expatriates, say reliable sources to Al-Anba daily.
Sources disclosed the proposal calls for imposing harsher penalties on expatriates who violate Article Four of the Residency Law. This article pertains to the re-entry of expatriates, who had earlier been deported, without obtaining permission from the Ministry of Interior, which is also a violation of Article 19 of the same law.
Sources warned those proven to have violated the law will be imprisoned for maximum of five years and pay KD 5,000 fine or any of these two penalties.
In a unrelated development, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor is on going with investigation at the Farwaniya Labor Department, where some employees have been charged with issuing licenses to about 70 illusory companies, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The daily quoted ministry sources as saying the legal committee assigned to investigate the issue accused many of the workers of manipulating the files of illusory companies and backed its claim with documents the ministry obtained in that regard.
Kuwaiti man, son, daughter dead in accident, wife, girl in hospital: A Kuwaiti man, identified as Harbi Ghazi Al-Harbi, 51, and his son and daughter aged 14 and 10 respectively died in a tragic road accident in Saudi Arabia, reports Al-Rai daily.
The family was returning back to Kuwait after performing Omrah when their jeep overturned. The wife and another three-year-old daughter suffered serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Saudi Arabia.
Porn-sellers nabbed: Criminal Investigations Department officials arrested six men for selling pirated CDs and DVDs containing pornographic material, reports Al-Shahid daily.
The suspects were caught selling their wares in front of cooperative societies and commercial complexes.
Grocer in drug trade: Police arrested an Iranian grocer for trafficking in drugs, reports Al-Anba daily.
The trafficker was arrested during a buy-bust operation while selling 100 narcotic pills worth KD 180 to a police agent with marked police money. Police also recovered 500 narcotic pills from the grocery shop in Khaitan.
Man reports gunman: A Kuwaiti man filed a case at Fintas Police Station accusing a driver of a jeep of shooting in the air with a firearm and then pointing the weapon at him. The complainant said the incident took place while he was attending a marriage party. The Kuwaiti said he does not know the driver, but noted down the jeep’s plate number.
A case was registered against the driver of the jeep.
The law forbids people from carrying weapons and shooting in air or at anyone for that matter. A number of children died due to random gun shots fired in the air in Ahmadi governorate recently.
