Bogus firm owners probed by CID for sponsoring 800 workers

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department Thursday opened an investigation into 12 Kuwaitis who the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor is accusing of owning bogus companies, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to reports a total of 800 workers are registered in the name of these bogus companies.
The security sources have disclosed that the investigations revealed one of the suspects is the Chairman of the Cancellation and Transfer Division of one of the Labor Departments at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
It has been reported he owns 100 bogus companies employing 300 workers. He also owns a grocery and 65 workers are registered workers at this grocery. He allegedly took advantage of his position to manipulate and forge work permits and sold them to workers for between KD 600 and KD 1,000.
The sources said the investigations also revealed another suspect works at one of the Labor Departments of the Ministry and he owns 50 bogus companies and has sold 230 visas. He also owns a shop selling accessories. Under this company he has 75 registered workers. He also took advantage of his position and sold work permits.

Police arrest stuntsmen: Officers from the Ahmadi Security Directorate recently initiated a campaign against youths who meet at the weekend in Wafra, Thaher and Jaber Al-Ali areas and perform stunts with their vehicles, and they managed to arrest six youths who were caught using their vehicles to perform stunts, while putting their lives and the lives of others in danger. The officers seized three other vehicles in Wafra.
Sources confirmed the Ahmadi Security Directorate would continue its campaigns against lawbreakers over an unspecified period.

Sorcerer arrested in car
: Securitymen on night patrol noticed a vehicle parked at the desert area and approached it, only to find a Kuwaiti citizen in his 30s practicing sorcery inside the car. The officers went on to confiscate sorcery related tools which they found in his possession, and the citizen was referred to the concerned authorities for further investigation.

4 illegals arrested: Officers from the Immigration Security Department continued their security campaign inside public buses in Hawalli area, arresting four expatriates for overstay. They were referred to the concerned authority for necessary action.

Absconding girl found: Security operatives affiliated to the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior spotted a girl in her 20s walking by the road in Hawalli area and requested her to show identification, which she refused.
The officers then called for backup, while three other patrol cars arrived at the location, where they discovered a case of absconding had been registered against her at one police station in Hawalli, so she was referred to the concerned authority for investigation.

Youth injured in clashes
: A 16-year old Kuwaiti youth was injured during clashes among a group of youths in Sulaibiya. The injured boy was admitted to the Farwaniya Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

Drunk brother reported: A citizen dragged his brother to the Al-Qairawan police station and requested police to place him in custody for consuming alcohol. The complainant narrated the brother attacks his sisters and other members of the family any time he comes back home intoxicated.
The suspect has since been confined to the cell, while necessary legal measures will be taken against him. The case was registered.
