KUWAIT CITY, May 5: The fourth and fifth round of the Bahrain Drag Race was launched Wednesday evening and was attended by more that 30 participating Kuwaiti teams who were distributed into more than six racing categories. On Wednesday the teams also completed the free trails of the fourth round which was deferred to Thursday evening before the fifth round which will kick off Friday afternoon concluding the Bahraini Drag Race Championship 2010. Regarding the Kuwaiti participation, General Manager of the Kuwait 1/4 Mile Auto & Motorcycle Club, Salah Bin Eidan who heads the Kuwaiti delegation participating in Bahrain said: “First, I thank God Almighty for the recovery of the club’s Chairman, Sheikh Basel Al-Salem Al-Sabah who is currently in London.

He is one of the reasons motivating his sons and brothers in Kuwait to acquire further achievements for our beloved country. I would like to thank the Bahraini race organizing team as well as commend the role played by both club board member, Ibrahim Manasir, and the club’s director for technical affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Majed.” Bin Eidan added that he is gracious that the State of Kuwait is being represented at this international forum; “It is truly significant that Kuwaiti participation is always large and that is what people in Bahrain are impressed about.

The motivation spirit here is quite high ... hoping that it will continue until we reach a larger representation of Kuwait through our participation in the USA, the country of the drag racing sport,” he added. Salah Bin Eidan commented on the reasons the first Festival of Modified Cars was postponed on April 30. He confirmed that the club’s management has requested for the delay due to bad weather conditions as it is one of the key factors for the festival’s success.  “A new date for the festival will be announced in the near future and I am certain that everyone will enjoy it as it caters for every age group,” he concluded.
